The Godox C100 is more useful as a compact light meter than as a camera. Its transparent viewfinder gives it a striking, futuristic look, but reviewers found that framing through it can be awkward and inconsistent. The meter, by contrast, earned positive assessments, with one important boundary for film shooters: its reported ISO range is 100–800.
What the Godox C100 does
Godox describes the C100 as its first camera with a built-in light meter. It has photo, video, and meter modes, and its transparent optical viewfinder displays status and framing or exposure information. Godox says the meter reads brightness from the central 25% of the frame. Godox’s product page lists the device at approximately 65 g net weight.
That combination makes the C100 unusual: it is both a small digital camera and a meter intended to help set exposure. The two functions do not perform equally well in published reviews.

It can make lo-fi snapshots, but it is difficult to recommend as a dependable everyday camera. DPReview described the images as 2 MP and found that highlights could be challenging, while fixed focus limits what the camera can handle. TechRadar also characterized the sensor as 2 MP and noted poor dynamic range. These are reviewers’ descriptions; Godox’s product page does not list a sensor resolution. (DPReview; TechRadar)

Those limitations matter most if you expect the C100 to replace a conventional compact camera. Its novelty design may be part of the appeal, but the available reviews do not support treating it as a versatile imaging tool.
Is the C100 viewfinder hard to use?
Yes, according to multiple reviewers. DPReview found composition inconsistent and difficult because the apparent framing depends on the camera’s distance and angle relative to the eye. Amateur Photographer likewise reported that the frame guides shift with viewing distance. Can you use the Godox C100 as a light meter?
That is the more convincing use. DPReview reviewer Abby Ferguson said her comparisons matched readings from mirrorless cameras and that she would feel confident using the C100 for film photography. PetaPixel also described the meter as accurate, while noting that taking a reading could be slow. These are reviewers’ findings, not a universal calibration guarantee. (DPReview; PetaPixel)

What film ISO does the C100 meter support?
DPReview and Amateur Photographer report a meter-mode ISO range of 100–800. If your film is outside that range, the reviewed meter’s stated range does not cover it; confirm the camera’s current firmware and available controls before relying on it for a particular film stock. The official Godox page lists firmware C100 V1.1.3 dated September 7, 2026, but does not provide a changelog establishing changes to meter behavior. (DPReview; Amateur Photographer; Godox)
Practical details before buying
- Storage: Godox specifies TF-card support up to 128 GB. PetaPixel says a microSD card is required for storage; check the retail box contents before buying a separate card.
- Battery: Godox specifies over 1.5 hours of continuous shooting. This is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independently verified runtime for every use pattern.
- Charging and transfer: The listed charging input is 5V/1A, and data transfer is USB 2.0.
- Operating conditions: Godox lists an operating temperature range of 5–40°C.

Who should consider the Godox C100?
The C100 makes the most sense for someone who values its unusual design and wants a small camera-meter combination, especially if they shoot film within the reported ISO range and are willing to work around slower readings and an awkward viewfinder. For a primary camera, its image limitations and inconsistent composition are substantial drawbacks.
If your priority is reliable exposure measurement rather than having a camera in the same device, compare a dedicated handheld meter or smartphone meter app. DPReview points to smartphone apps and a Sekonic meter as reference alternatives; Amateur Photographer mentions Keks KM-Q and TTArtisan meters.
