If it’s your account, start with Google’s official Account Recovery page. There is no legitimate shortcut around Google’s ownership checks: the options you see depend on the account and the information Google can use to verify you. Recovery is not guaranteed if you cannot use your recovery phone or email.
Can you bypass Gmail’s password checks?
No. Google’s supported route is to verify that you own the Google Account through its recovery process, not to bypass authentication. If you forgot your password or cannot receive a verification code, use the Account Recovery steps and follow the questions and instructions shown for your account.
Google may offer a verification method already associated with the account, but the available choices vary. Google lists options such as passkeys, recovery contacts, selfie video, recovery email or phone, and two-step verification in its sign-in and identity verification guidance. That list does not mean every method is enabled for every account or will appear in a particular recovery attempt.
How to try recovering your account

Open Google Account Recovery directly. Avoid recovery links sent by unknown people.

Answer the questions as accurately as you can to help Google confirm the account is yours. If the flow offers another verification method you can use, follow its on-screen directions.

If Google verifies you and prompts you to reset the password, choose a strong password you have not previously used for that account.

If you cannot complete recovery, use the recovery tips and next steps presented by Google. You can try again: Google says incorrect guesses do not remove you from the process and that there is no limit to the number of attempts. That does not guarantee Google will restore access.

If the account is managed by work or school
For a Google Account managed by an employer, school, or another group, the standard recovery steps may not work. Contact the organization’s account administrator for help.

Protect yourself from recovery scams
Google says it does not provide sign-in help by phone and does not work with services claiming to provide account or password support. Its Account Help page states: “We don’t work with any service that claims to provide account or password support.” It also warns: “Do not give out your passwords or verification codes.” Do not pay a stranger who promises to unlock the account, and do not share credentials or codes.

Review the recovery and sign-in options available in your Google Account and add or update methods you can access. Google recommends adding a recovery phone and email in advance so it has additional ways to reach you and help confirm your identity; see its account-preparation guidance.

If you recently changed recovery information, Google says changes may take up to seven days to take effect. It advises trying recovery again after a few days if the change is not yet available.
