The Glorious GMMK Eternal is a wired 96% mechanical keyboard that keeps a number pad and function row in a smaller footprint than a conventional full-size board. It may suit desks where numeric entry matters but mouse space is at a premium. Glorious says its three-layer dampening is designed for a deeper, satisfying sound; independent sound or typing tests were not established here, so “sounds great” should be treated as a manufacturer claim, not a verified verdict.
What is the GMMK Eternal’s layout, and will it fit your desk?
The 96% layout retains the number pad and function row while reducing the keyboard’s overall footprint compared with a full-size arrangement. Glorious lists dimensions of 372 × 122 × 44 mm (14.6 × 4.8 × 1.7 inches) in its product guide. That can free some space beside the keyboard for mouse movement, but whether it fits your setup depends on your desk dimensions and how you position other equipment.
This is still a wired board, not a wireless travel keyboard. Its cable detaches at the USB-C end and connects to a USB-A port on the computer. If you need a number pad but do not want the width of a conventional full-size keyboard, the layout is the central reason to consider it.
Does it sound good and feel good to type on?
Glorious says the GMMK Eternal uses triple-layer sound dampening: molded silicone and two PU foam layers around the PCB. The company describes the design as intended to produce a deeper, more satisfying sound. That is evidence of the construction and Glorious’s intended result, not independent confirmation of what the keyboard sounds or feels like in use.

No independent hands-on measurement or trustworthy firsthand account establishing its sound, typing feel, latency, or gaming performance was found. A launch report confirms the broad 96% wired and hot-swap positioning, but does not provide a basis for ranking its acoustics. The available evidence therefore does not support a claim that it sounds great—or a comparison with another keyboard’s sound.
Can you change the switches and keycaps?
The board ships with Glorious Fox linear switches, which Glorious rates for 50 million presses. Its hot-swap sockets support 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches, allowing compatible switches to be replaced without soldering. The included switch puller is intended to help with removal.

The keycaps are double-shot ABS in an OEM profile. They are replaceable, but check that a set supports the GMMK Eternal’s 96% layout and exact key sizes; compatibility with a standard full-size set should not be assumed. A keycap puller is included as well.

- Lighting: Per-key RGB lighting.
- Rollover: N-key rollover.
- Polling: The guide lists 125, 250, 500, and 1,000 Hz options, with 1,000 Hz as the default.
- Onboard profiles: The product page lists three memory profiles.
- In the box: USB-C cable, keycap puller, switch puller, and quick-start booklet, according to the guide.
The keyboard’s listed operating-system support and its configuration software are different matters. Glorious lists the keyboard for Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.11 or later; the product page also lists Chrome and consoles as compatible. However, Glorious CORE software is currently Windows-only, so Mac users should not assume they can configure it with the same software controls available on Windows.

Glorious’s CORE changelog says version 2.1.21 added GMMK Eternal 96% support on September 8, 2026. That entry also listed work in progress on a num-lock indicator issue and a key-binding display issue. Those notes concern software behavior and are not evidence of a typing or sound test.
