Gloria Choice was found beaten to death in a vacant east Fort Worth apartment on December 9, 2005. In detailed reporting published by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in December 2025, her son Scotti Choice said he still hopes the case will be solved. A person arrested in connection with the killing in 2012 was released a week later for lack of evidence; that arrest did not resolve the murder. The Star-Telegram indexed a new story about the family on October 3, 2026, but its indexed entry does not show whether it reports any new lead or change in the case.

What happened to Gloria Choice?

Gloria Choice was 57 when she was found beaten to death in a vacant apartment in Woodhaven, an east Fort Worth neighborhood, on December 9, 2005. The known account of the killing is documented in the Star-Telegram’s December 2025 report.

A person was arrested in March 2012 and released about a week later because of a lack of evidence, according to that report. An arrest is not proof of guilt, and the release meant the case was not solved. The available reporting does not identify that person here.

What has Gloria’s family said?

Gloria’s son, Scotti Choice, described a mother who cooked for him, helped when his car broke down, and loved her grandchildren. He told the Star-Telegram that he hopes investigators can solve the case. His comments keep the focus on the person lost, as well as the unanswered questions surrounding her death.

Scotti also said he would like more capacity for cold-case investigations, DNA testing resources, and follow-up interviews with people contacted early in the investigation. Those are his stated hopes for the work; the available account does not establish that biological evidence exists in Gloria’s case or that new testing is underway.

Is Gloria Choice’s murder solved?

The detailed public reporting cited here describes the killing as unsolved. Fort Worth’s official homicide cold-case page says the Cold Case Unit investigates unsolved homicides and that all unsolved cases remain open. The page also cautions that its online case list is incomplete. It does not confirm Gloria Choice’s case-specific status, so the general page should not be read as an update on her investigation.

The Star-Telegram indexed a story with the headline “21 years later, Fort Worth family still looking for answers to mother’s murder” on October 3, 2026. The index entry confirms the headline and date, but does not expose the story text. It therefore does not establish whether the article includes a new interview, investigative development, forensic update, or request for information.

How to share information about a Fort Worth cold case

Fort Worth Police lists phone and email contact routes for its Cold Case Unit on the department’s official page. Anyone with information about an unsolved homicide can use those published contacts to reach the unit. The page warns that the online list is not comprehensive, so a case’s absence from the list does not establish that it is closed or no longer under investigation.

Fort Worth’s wider cold-case context

A December 2025 Star-Telegram report attributed an estimate of nearly 1,000 unsolved homicides in Fort Worth to police. That is an estimate reported in 2025, not a verified current count or a measure of the status of Gloria Choice’s case. In that report, Police Chief Eddie Garcia said: “Those are important to us. You know, these are not just numbers. These are human beings. These are people that want justice.”
