Giovanni Leoni’s latest reported target for full training with Liverpool is the week commencing October 12, 2026. That is an expectation reported on October 2—not confirmation that he has rejoined the squad—and it does not set a date for his return to competitive football.
When is Giovanni Leoni expected to return to team training?
Liverpool.com reported on October 2, citing The Athletic, that the club hoped Leoni would be back in full training in just over a week, targeting the week commencing October 12. The report describes a target, not a completed return or an official confirmation from Liverpool.
The timeline had moved from Liverpool’s earlier expectation. In a club-published injury update on September 3, head coach Andoni Iraola said: “I think the plan is also to start training during the break, with the group.” Liverpool’s injury list repeated that plan on September 16. The newer October 2 report gives the later full-training target.
Does the training target mean Leoni can play?
No match return has been confirmed. Training with the group, completing full training and being ready to play are separate steps; the October 2 report does not name a competitive fixture for Leoni’s return.
