Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted is a single-player roguelike combat-survival mode included with the Complete Edition. Existing owners can access it by purchasing the Complete Edition Upgrade. Choose a bounty, survive enemy waves and minibosses, and earn Mon for upgrades and unlocks between runs. Most Wanted arrived through patch v2.0 on October 1, 2026 globally, with availability dated October 2 in some territories.
How do I unlock Most Wanted mode?
Most Wanted is included in Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition. If you already own the game, purchase the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Upgrade to add Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara. PlayStation lists the game as a PS5 title; check the edition carefully, because the standard edition is not the Complete Edition.

Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, described it as “our spin on a roguelike” in the September 3, 2026 PlayStation Blog announcement. The official Ghost of Yōtei page lists Most Wanted among the Complete Edition contents.
What are the requirements?
- Game and edition: You need the Complete Edition, or the Complete Edition Upgrade if you already own the game.
- Patch: Install patch v2.0 or later. PlayStation dated availability October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Download access: Downloading the update requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
- Play mode: Most Wanted is described as single-player. PlayStation’s store listing separately says PS Plus is required for online play or multiplayer, but the official sources reviewed do not state whether PS Plus is required for Most Wanted itself.
For the announced US digital prices, Sony listed the Complete Edition Upgrade at $14.99 USD and the Complete Edition at $69.99 USD. How does a Most Wanted run work?
- Choose a bounty from the bounty board. Each bounty centers on a different member of the Yōtei Six.
- Fight through waves and minibosses as you work toward the bounty target.
- Select perks during the run to shape your approach. Official examples include weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, and survivability.
- Repeat bounties at increasing difficulty. The hardest bounty culminates in a fight against Lord Saitō.
- Spend Mon between runs to improve your options for future attempts.
How do I unlock the other characters?
Atsu is available by default. The other playable characters are Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin. Progress through runs to unlock additional characters; Mon can also be spent on character unlocks. Official sources do not give exact unlock thresholds or costs.
All four share a katana baseline, but their other weapons and signature abilities differ. Treat these as distinct toolkits rather than a published power ranking: the official materials do not provide comparative balance data.

Perks add another layer to character choice: a run can emphasize weapon mastery, gear, summons, parries, or survivability. The official mode page describes the characters and examples of their abilities.

- Mon: Earn this mode currency during play, then spend it between runs on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks.
- Run perks: Choose these as you progress through a run to shape your build; they are distinct from the between-run Mon purchases.
- Cosmetics: Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted also unlock in the main game. PlayStation says they can be worn during Atsu’s original quest or Echoes of Sekigahara.
PlayStation has not published item-by-item Mon costs, exact character unlock thresholds, or a comprehensive reward catalog and transfer-exception list. The announced carryover establishes that earned Most Wanted cosmetics unlock in the main game, but not a complete inventory of which items are available.
