Two people aboard a Delhi-to-Budaun passenger bus were injured when two men on a two-wheeler reportedly opened fire near Masuri in Ghaziabad on the night of September 28, 2026. Police said two suspects were arrested on October 2 after an exchange of fire near Bhoorgarhi. The motive and the suspects’ involvement remain allegations under investigation, not findings of guilt.
What happened near Masuri?
Reports place the shooting near Masuri and High-Tech College, as the bus was travelling from Delhi toward Budaun. Hindustan Times described the road as NH-9, while other coverage referred to the Delhi–Meerut Expressway in the same area; these descriptions concern the reported incident, not separate attacks. Hindustan Times reported that two people aboard were injured: conductor Talib Hussain, 25, and bus operator Mohammad Arif’s friend Kanruddin Ansari, 45. Both were taken to a Delhi hospital and were described as stable in that October 3 report. Who was arrested?
Police reportedly arrested two suspects on Friday, October 2, after attempting to stop them near Bhoorgarhi and exchanging fire. Times of India identified them as Anas, 26, and Nadeem, 23, and reported that Anas was shot in the leg while Nadeem was caught during a search. What do police allege was the motive?
News accounts of police statements describe a prior dispute involving bus operator Arif and a more recent confrontation with the conductor. Hindustan Times quoted DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari as saying, “The firing was part of a revenge plot planned by a group of five people.” This is the police account reported by the newspaper, not an adjudicated finding; the reports differ in some details of the alleged dispute. What is the case status?
According to Hindustan Times, Arif complained at Masuri police station on September 29, and an FIR was registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which the report describes as attempted murder. Reports said the investigation was continuing and other suspects remained to be traced. The available reporting does not establish a later court outcome or independently confirm the FIR’s contents.
