To get Minecraft’s official ray tracing, use Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock Edition) on a Windows 64-bit PC with a DirectX hardware ray tracing-capable GPU, then open a compatible Marketplace world or activate a compatible PBR resource pack in a world. Java Edition does not include this feature.
Check that your edition and PC are supported
Minecraft’s documented real-time ray tracing is for Minecraft for Windows, which is Bedrock Edition—not Java Edition. The PC edition comparison lists ray tracing for Bedrock, not Java. See Minecraft’s Java and Bedrock PC edition comparison.
Minecraft Help lists these minimum requirements for ray tracing in Bedrock on Windows:
- Windows 64-bit PC.
- Intel Core i5 or equivalent processor.
- More than 8 GB of RAM.
- Bedrock version 1.16.200 or higher.
- A GPU capable of DirectX hardware ray tracing. Minecraft gives NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series and higher and AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series and higher as examples.
Check the official Minecraft ray tracing requirements against your hardware and installed game version. These are minimum requirements, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate. Update Windows and your graphics driver if needed. VR and mixed-reality headsets are not supported for this feature.

Open a world that supports ray tracing
Having a capable PC is not enough: the world must include compatible content. Minecraft says ray tracing is available in selected Marketplace worlds. Look for a world identified as ray tracing-capable in the Marketplace, then download and open it. Microsoft explains that supported worlds and physically based rendering (PBR) resource packs provide the content and textures used for the effect in its ray tracing getting-started guide.
If you are using a compatible downloaded world and pack rather than a finished Marketplace world, activate the resource pack in that world’s settings. Microsoft’s RTX resource-pack sample instructions show the activation flow. A random texture pack—or a Java shader—does not enable Bedrock’s official ray tracing feature.

Turn on ray tracing in the world
- Launch Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock Edition) and open a ray tracing-capable Marketplace world, or a compatible downloaded world with its PBR resource pack activated.
- Enter the world and open its graphics settings.
- Check whether ray tracing is available for that world and device, and enable it if the option is available.
If the option is unavailable, first confirm you launched the Windows Bedrock client, your GPU and driver support DirectX hardware ray tracing, and the world or resource pack is compatible. Minecraft’s ray tracing page describes the feature and supported Marketplace content.
Ray tracing and Vibrant Visuals are different features
Do not treat Vibrant Visuals as another name for ray tracing. Minecraft says Windows ray tracing remains supported and that no changes were planned with the Vibrant Visuals announcement. Microsoft Learn describes ray tracing as still supported but largely superseded by Vibrant Visuals. The two are distinct rendering features; the sources do not establish a universal visual-quality or performance winner. Check the current options available in your game and world. See Microsoft’s ray tracing documentation.

- System Compatibility Note: This 2‑slot card measures 249 mm (L) x 132 mm (W) x 41 mm (H) and requires a single 8‑pin power connector. Please verify available chassis clearance and ensure your power supply is rated for a recommended 550W before purchase.
- Dedicated Support: Please contact us directly through Amazon for any product questions or assistance you may require.
- Next‑Gen AMD RDNA 4 Architecture: Powered by the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU with 32 Compute Units featuring 3rd Gen Ray Tracing and 2nd Gen AI Accelerators, delivering exceptional 1440p gaming and AI‑enhanced performance.
- Blazing‑Fast Engine Clock: Delivers a boost clock of up to 3290 MHz and a game clock of 2700 MHz out of the box, providing the raw power for smooth, high‑framerate gameplay.
- 16GB GDDR6 Memory on 128‑Bit Bus: Equipped with 16GB of high‑speed GDDR6 memory running at 20 Gbps, offering ample capacity and bandwidth for modern game textures and creative applications.
Should you upgrade your graphics card?
Consider a GPU upgrade only if you play Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock) and your current graphics card does not meet the hardware ray tracing requirement. The official requirements give supported GPU families as examples, but do not rank cards or establish a recommended model, price, or performance tier. Verify the exact card and driver’s DirectX hardware ray tracing support before buying; meeting the listed minimums does not promise a particular frame rate.
