Pocket Gamer’s Genshin Impact tier list for version 7.1.0 was updated on October 5, 2026, adding Vesna and Vodyanitsa to its SS-to-D ranking. Both new characters appear in Pocket Gamer’s SS tier, but other current guides rank them differently. Treat these placements as editorial snapshots—not an official or universal verdict—and weigh each character’s role, team fit, and the state of your own account.
What the version 7.1.0 tier list says
Pocket Gamer’s October 5, 2026 update presents character rankings from SS through D and adds Vesna and Vodyanitsa. Its indexed guide text places both in SS. That is the Pocket Gamer list’s assessment, not a HoYoverse ranking.
Other guides published around the same update do not use one shared scale or reach identical placements. Their ratings are useful as comparisons, but an SS on one site is not equivalent to an S or T0 on another.

| Pocket Gamer, updated October 5, 2026 | SS | SS | Uses an SS-to-D scale; both characters were added in the version 7.1.0 update. |
| Beebom, October 1, 2026 | SS | S | Evaluates characters in their best role and describes Stellar reactions as prominent in its October meta snapshot. |
| Genshin-Build, version 7.1 | T0 | T0.5 | Its board separates on-field DPS, damage support, and support, and states that placements assume particular constellation levels. |
| Icy Veins, September 23, 2026 | Anemo DPS | Support with healing and resistance reduction | Groups characters by Main DPS, Sub DPS, and Support rather than assigning the same kind of tier labels. |
The differences are a reminder that a tier label depends on a guide’s criteria: role, constellation assumptions, team options, and what content or performance the author is comparing. The four publications are independent editorial sources, not an official consensus.

How to judge Vesna and Vodyanitsa for your account
Vesna: evaluate her as an on-field damage option
Icy Veins describes Vesna as an Anemo DPS and notes that her value depends on investment and available teammates. That makes her placement most relevant if you want an on-field damage dealer and can build a team around her—not simply because she appears near the top of a general list.
Icy Veins also compares her with Yumemizuki Mizuki as a Stellar-Swirl DPS character, noting overlapping teammates and cautioning that Vesna is not necessarily a compelling upgrade for every account. If you already have a functioning team for that role, consider whether Vesna fills a genuine roster gap or mainly competes for the same position and support options.

Vodyanitsa: consider support value in context
Icy Veins describes Vodyanitsa as a support who can provide healing, Hydro application, and resistance reduction, with possible weapon or artifact utility. The same guide cautions that she is not always the standout support for a particular DPS. Her value therefore depends on which teams need those functions and whether she improves them enough to matter to your account.

Beebom places Vodyanitsa one tier below Vesna, while Pocket Gamer puts both in SS and Genshin-Build places Vodyanitsa at T0.5 compared with Vesna at T0. These are not directly convertible ratings; the practical question is whether her support package helps your roster more than the alternatives you already own.
Account for investment and team assumptions
Genshin-Build says its placements are tied to roles and assumed constellations. GameWith’s October 6, 2026 team recommendation likewise shows why a character’s value can be lineup-specific: its Stellar-Swirl team pairs Vesna, Vodyanitsa, Odette, and Faruzan. GameWith says Sucrose can replace Faruzan and that Yumemizuki Mizuki at C2 or higher can replace Vesna with similar performance in that lineup. These are that guide’s recommendations, not guarantees for every account or constellation setup.
- Role: Check whether the character is being judged as an on-field DPS, damage support, or support/sustain.
- Team fit: Look for the reactions and teammates that enable the placement, rather than assuming the character performs the same way in any party.
- Investment: Note any constellation assumptions and whether you have the relevant teammates and equipment.
- Account value: Ask whether the character fills a missing role or meaningfully improves a team you use, rather than treating a high tier as an automatic pull recommendation.
- Content: Separate a character’s potential in demanding team-based content from convenience in exploration or less demanding encounters.
How to use the list without overreading it
- Start with the role you need. A DPS and a support solve different team-building problems, even when a tier list places them in adjacent tiers.
- Check the guide’s assumptions. Confirm the listed role, constellation level, and any specific teammate or reaction dependencies before comparing placements.
- Compare like with like. Use rankings within one guide’s own scale; do not translate SS, S, T0, or T0.5 into a shared numerical ranking.
- Compare against your current roster. Consider whether the character adds a new option or competes with a character and teammates you already rely on.
- Recheck after meaningful updates. These ratings reflect pages dated September 23 through October 6, 2026. Rankings and team recommendations can change as game versions and endgame conditions change.
A low placement is not proof that a character cannot clear content. Icy Veins makes the editorial caveat that every character is viable with enough investment; read that as a reminder to distinguish relative ranking from basic usability, not as a promise that every character performs equally well or requires the same resources.
