Neither is established as a way to find a product’s aisle or shelf in a Dutch supermarket. Ray-Ban Meta glasses can answer general questions about what you see, while Google has announced Gemini-powered eyewear with planned visual assistance and navigation. But neither company’s cited official material confirms store inventory lookup or indoor aisle guidance. If that is your goal, neither is a proven choice.
Can either pair tell you which aisle has a product?
That specific capability is not established for either option in the official materials available as of October 4, 2026. A camera that can interpret a view, or an assistant that can provide directions, does not necessarily know a supermarket’s layout, current stock, or the location of a particular item.
It is important to separate general navigation—directions to a destination—from indoor store navigation—finding a product in a particular aisle or locating it on a shelf. The sources describe general assistance, not a tested supermarket item-finding feature.

What Ray-Ban Meta offers today
Ray-Ban’s Dutch product page describes asking the glasses about what you see, with examples such as asking about a monument or translating a sign. The glasses require a smartphone connection and the Meta AI app. Those examples support general visual questions, but do not show that the assistant can identify a product’s aisle or check store stock. Meta’s April 23, 2025 announcement about EU voice experiences named English, French, Italian, and Spanish; it did not name Dutch. That dated announcement does not settle whether Dutch support has since changed, so check Meta’s current language and feature availability before relying on Dutch voice interaction. Ray-Ban’s Dutch catalog lists Meta AI glasses, but the product page’s sales-and-shipping country list omits the Netherlands. The Dutch-language site and catalog listing alone therefore do not establish local purchase or shipping availability; verify this directly before buying. Ray-Ban’s Dutch catalog

What Google has announced for Gemini eyewear
Google’s May 19, 2026 announcement describes two planned types of eyewear: audio glasses for spoken help and display glasses that show information. It names questions about what the wearer sees, directions, translation, messaging, and phone-app actions among the intended capabilities. Google said audio glasses would launch later in fall 2026; its Android XR page describes them as “Coming this fall.” These are product announcements, not evidence that a particular pair is available in the Netherlands or can locate supermarket products. Google’s May 2025 Android XR post also described prototype glasses paired with Gemini, including turn-by-turn directions and a live-translation demonstration. That demonstration shows a prototype scenario, not how a released product performs in a Dutch supermarket. Google’s 2025 Android XR post

What to check before buying for supermarket use
- Ask about the exact task: check whether the glasses can find a named product’s aisle in your specific store, rather than simply answer questions about a visible package or give general directions.
- Confirm Dutch support: verify the current language list for the exact product and features you plan to use. The cited Meta announcement is from April 2025, and Google’s cited announcements do not state Dutch support.
- Confirm local availability: check the manufacturer’s live Netherlands availability and shipping information. Google’s announced fall 2026 launch window does not confirm a Dutch launch, and Ray-Ban’s Dutch catalog does not resolve the product page’s country-list discrepancy.
- Check what the model actually provides: audio glasses speak information; display glasses are intended to show it. Do not assume a feature described for one type is available on another.
