Google began bringing Gemini to Wear OS watches in July 2025, including Samsung watches. The Galaxy Watch8 series was the first to ship with Gemini ready out of the box, and Google later described a wrist-raise way to start Gemini on Galaxy Watch9. Which features you can use depends on the watch, software, account and market.
Does Gemini work on Samsung Galaxy Watch?
Yes. Google’s July 2025 rollout included Samsung among the Wear OS brands, with Wear OS 4 or later named as the baseline. The rollout was gradual—Google said it would reach eligible watches “over the coming weeks”—so that announcement did not mean every compatible watch received Gemini at the same time.
Google later said the Galaxy Watch8 series was the first to come with Gemini ready out of the box. In a July 2026 announcement, Google also described raising your wrist to activate Gemini without a wake word on Galaxy Watch9. Those examples establish support on those Samsung generations, not on every Samsung watch.

Google’s announcements specifically identify the Galaxy Watch8 series as shipping with Gemini and describe wrist-raise access on Galaxy Watch9. Its broader 2025 announcement names Samsung as part of the Wear OS 4+ rollout, but Google has not provided a complete current model-by-model eligibility list in these announcements.

How do I start Gemini on a Wear OS watch?
Google lists three ways to launch Gemini on a supported watch:

Google has also described raising the wrist to start Gemini on Galaxy Watch9 without saying a wake word. That is a specific Watch9 interaction, not a general instruction for every Wear OS watch.
What can Gemini do from your wrist?
Google’s examples include asking questions in natural language, setting reminders, and asking Gemini to remember a short detail—such as where you parked or which locker you used. Google also illustrates using context from apps to answer a question. These are examples, not a guarantee that every request works on every watch or configuration.

Samsung app connections on Galaxy Watch8
Google says Wear OS 6 brings Gemini integration with Samsung Health, Calendar, Reminder and Clock on the Galaxy Watch8 series. This app support is distinct from the more general ability to launch Gemini on an eligible Wear OS watch.
Basic Gemini and Gemini Intelligence are different
Having Gemini on a Wear OS watch does not mean the watch has Google’s newer Gemini Intelligence features. In June 2026, Google said select Wear OS 7 devices would receive those features later in 2026. The announced examples include Create My Widget, which builds a custom dashboard from a natural-language request, and multi-step app automation. Google’s May 2026 Android announcement also placed watches among the devices expected to receive Gemini Intelligence later that year.

These were announcements about a later rollout for select devices, not confirmation that Gemini Intelligence is already available on every Wear OS 7 watch. Check the exact device and current software availability if those features are the reason you want Gemini.
What you need to check before using Gemini
Google’s stated Wear OS 4+ baseline is a starting point, not a complete compatibility guarantee. Availability and setup can depend on several factors:
- Watch and software: Confirm that the exact watch is eligible and running the required software.
- Phone: Google says the watch must be connected to a compatible device. Gemini mobile app availability is limited to select devices.
- Country and language: The app is available only in select countries and languages, and the supported wake word may vary by region.
- Account, subscription and setup: Google says features can vary by account and subscription, and an internet connection and setup may be required.
- Accuracy: Google warns that Gemini can make mistakes, so check important answers.
Google’s announcements do not provide a full current country-by-country or watch-by-watch eligibility table. A feature described for one Galaxy Watch generation should not be assumed to work identically on another model or brand.
Does Wear OS 7 improve battery life because of Gemini?
No such Gemini-specific battery result is established. Google said average users upgrading from Wear OS 6 to Wear OS 7 could see “up to 10% improvement in battery life.” That is Google’s platform-level estimate for average users upgrading, not a Gemini battery test or a guaranteed result for an individual watch.
