Google announced on March 11, 2026, that Gemini in Chrome and other Chrome AI features were expanding to Canada, India, and New Zealand, alongside support for more than 50 additional languages. The announcement names several Indian languages, but it does not publish a complete language list or a country-by-country breakdown. Availability is rolling out by platform and user cohort, so the announcement does not mean every eligible user already has access.
Where is Gemini in Chrome expanding?
Google named Canada, India, and New Zealand in its March 11, 2026 announcement. It said the features would first be available in those regions on desktop and iOS, and specifically described Gemini in Chrome as rolling out to Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users. Google did not provide a precise schedule for each device or account, so individual availability may vary.
The announcement does not give an account eligibility checklist, age requirements, or a country-by-country feature schedule. Check whether Gemini appears in Chrome on your device rather than assuming the regional announcement guarantees access to every user.
Which languages does Gemini in Chrome support?
Google said it was adding support for more than 50 additional languages. It specifically listed Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil as examples. The announcement does not enumerate all supported languages or map each language to a country, so it does not establish which complete set is available to users in India, Canada, or New Zealand.

Google’s announcement describes these as supported languages for the expanded Chrome AI experiences; it does not provide independent evaluations of response quality or confirm that every example workflow works in every language.
What can Gemini in Chrome do?
Google presents Gemini in Chrome as an assistant accessible from the current tab, intended to help without requiring users to switch tabs. Its examples include summarizing long web pages, answering questions about page content, and turning material into a quiz. It also describes comparing information across multiple open tabs and recalling pages visited earlier.

Does Gemini in Chrome work on iPhone or iPad?
Google says the initial availability in the three named regions includes iOS, but its announcement does not identify specific iPhone or iPad models, give an iOS version requirement, or describe a device-by-device rollout schedule. It separately names Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users for the Gemini in Chrome rollout. The post does not establish more specific iOS eligibility details.
Does Gemini in Chrome require a Chromebook Plus?
No such requirement is stated. Google names Chromebook Plus alongside Mac and Windows as user cohorts for the Chrome rollout; the announcement does not say Chromebook Plus is required. It also does not provide a complete device-compatibility list.
How are sensitive actions handled?
Google says it trains its models to recognize threats such as prompt injection and uses confirmation safeguards for sensitive actions, including sending an email or adding a calendar event. These are statements about Google’s intended design, not independent security testing or a guarantee that all risks are eliminated.

Is Chrome auto browse part of this expansion?
Not on the basis of this announcement. Google’s footnote says Chrome auto browse is available only in the U.S. to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. That separate, limited feature should not be confused with the described Gemini in Chrome expansion to Canada, India, and New Zealand.

What Google has and has not announced
