I used Gemini to turn planning conversations into Google Keep checklists, find existing notes, and add new items to lists. That workflow saved me hours of planning time, in my experience; Google documents the features, but does not publish a measurement showing how much time users typically save.
What Gemini can do with Google Keep
When Keep is connected, Gemini can find relevant notes, create notes or lists, add items to an existing list, and use note content in a conversation. That makes it useful for moving from an idea or discussion to a checklist you can revisit in Keep.
For example, you can ask Gemini to break a goal into steps and save those steps as a list. You can also ask it to find a recipe and save the ingredients. These are prompt patterns documented by Google Gemini Apps Help; they are not a guarantee that every response will be accurate.

- Sign in to Gemini with the same Google account you use for Keep.
- Make sure Keep Activity is on in Gemini’s activity settings.
- Connect Google Workspace to Gemini in the connected apps settings.
- If you use a work or school account, check with your administrator if Keep is unavailable. Workspace administrators can control access to Workspace services, and Gemini conversation history must be on to use Workspace apps, according to Google Workspace Help.
Google’s July 16, 2025 announcement describes the connection between Gemini and Workspace apps. Availability can depend on account access and administrator settings, so the connection may not be available to every account in the same way.

Turn a planning conversation into a Keep list
Start with a concrete goal and ask for steps, then make the save action explicit. For example:
Tell me what steps I need to take to prepare for a weekend trip. Then create a list in Keep.

For a focused request, mention @Google Keep in your prompt to direct Gemini to the app. After Gemini creates the list, open the linked Keep item and check that the steps are complete and sensible before relying on it.
Use existing notes and update lists
Find notes relevant to a topic
Ask a direct question such as Do I have any notes related to meal planning? Gemini can find relevant Keep notes and use their content in the conversation, which can help you continue a plan without searching through notes manually.

Add items to a list you already use
Specify the list name and the items to add, for example: Add packing cubes and a phone charger to my list called Weekend Trip. If Gemini chooses the wrong list or misses an item, open the linked list and make the correction there.
What to check, and what Gemini cannot do
Google warns that Gemini Apps can hallucinate or provide outdated information. Treat a generated plan as a draft: review the response and any sources shown, then inspect the saved note or list itself. Google says actions can be undone through the confirmation notification or by editing the linked list; notes created in Gemini Live may not be undoable.

- Gemini cannot share Keep notes or lists through this feature.
- It cannot view images or drawings in notes.
- It cannot add images to Keep notes.
The documented workflow is therefore best for text-based planning and list maintenance, not for managing visual notes or sharing them with other people.
What the time saving does—and does not—mean
My “saved me hours” result is a personal account of using the workflow, not a typical or guaranteed outcome. Google documents the Keep capabilities, but its product documentation and July 2025 announcement do not establish a measured productivity gain or a standard number of hours saved. Your result will depend on how much planning you do and how often you reuse notes and lists.
