Google’s November 18, 2025 announcement called Gemini 3 its “most intelligent model” and began rolling Gemini 3 Pro out in preview. That description was Google’s launch-era characterization, not a current ranking: Google’s model catalog, checked October 4, 2026, lists newer models, including Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini 3.8 Flash. “Available for all users” applied most clearly to the Gemini app rollout, not every Gemini 3 feature or Google product.
What Google meant by “most intelligent”
At Gemini 3’s November 18, 2025 launch, Google CEO Sundar Pichai described it as “our most intelligent model that helps you bring any idea to life.” The phrase was Google’s own characterization at that time; it should not be read as an independently verified ranking or as a claim about Google’s leading model today. Google’s current models catalog includes newer releases, including Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini 3.8 Flash.
Google presented Gemini 3 as an advance in reasoning, multimodal understanding, and agentic work, and launched Gemini 3 Pro in preview. Its announcement named the Gemini app, AI Studio, Vertex AI, Google Antigravity, Gemini CLI, and Search AI Mode as launch surfaces. Those descriptions explain Google’s intended capabilities; they are not independent performance findings. Google’s launch announcement is dated November 18, 2025.
Where Gemini 3 was available—and who could use it
Access varied by product. Google described Gemini 3 Pro as rolling out globally in the Gemini app, but Search AI Mode and Gemini Agent had narrower launch eligibility. The launch details below are historical; availability and plan rules can change.

Was Gemini 3 free to use?
Google’s launch announcement did not say a paid plan was required to use Gemini 3 Pro in the Gemini app: it described a global rollout and separately said Google AI subscribers would receive higher limits. Therefore, “available in the app” and “available with the same usage allowance” are different claims.
For personal accounts, Google’s Gemini Apps limits and upgrades help page says select paid Google One plans add access to Gemini features and models. It also says limits can change, including with available capacity. Check the current plan details and in-app limits for your account rather than relying on a launch-era number.

How to access Gemini 3 in Search AI Mode
At launch, the route was Search’s AI Mode, not the Gemini app. Google limited Gemini 3 Pro selection in AI Mode to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, while saying broader US access would follow. The November 2025 announcement does not establish the current eligibility or interface for every account.
- Open Google Search and enter AI Mode.
- If your account and region are eligible, look for the model selector and choose Gemini 3 Pro.
- If Gemini 3 Pro is not offered, check your account’s current plan and Google’s current Search availability; launch access was limited to US Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google also described generative layouts, interactive tools, and simulations in Search as experiences enabled by Gemini 3. These were Google’s launch descriptions, not a guarantee that every query or account would receive those features.

What Google said Gemini 3 could do
Google emphasized reasoning and multimodal understanding, alongside features intended to let the model take on more complex tasks. The capabilities it highlighted varied by product:
- Gemini app: Sharper reasoning, improved “vibe coding,” generative interfaces, and an experimental Gemini Agent. Google described Agent as a separate tool for complex, multi-step tasks, not simply another name for Gemini 3 Pro.
- Search AI Mode: Generative layouts, interactive tools, and simulations, in addition to model access for eligible users.
- Enterprise: Google Cloud described analyzing text, video, and files together; agentic coding and front-end creation; and tool use and planning for long-running business tasks.
These are product capabilities Google described at launch, rather than independent evaluations of quality or a promise that each feature is available in every edition. The enterprise details appeared in Google Cloud’s November 19, 2025 announcement.

In a note attached to its November 18, 2025 launch post, Google reported 2 billion monthly users of AI Overviews, more than 650 million monthly Gemini app users, more than 70% of Google Cloud customers using Google AI, and 13 million developers who had built with Google generative models. These are company-reported figures attributed to Google at launch, not independent measurements; they describe Google’s broader AI products and ecosystem, not Gemini 3 performance.
