Gears of War: E-Day has three core purchase options: Standard, Premium, and Premium Edition Upgrade. The Collector’s Edition is a separate physical bundle, not one of those three core editions. As of October 3, 2026, US Xbox listings show prices of $69.99, $99.99, and $30 respectively; the Collector’s Edition is listed at $299.99 on the Xbox Game Studios Shop, where it was out of stock when checked. Qualifying preorders can still receive Exfil Dom and Exfil weapon cosmetics through October 6 at 7:59 a.m. PT, while supplies last.
What are the three core editions?
The official editions announcement names Standard, Premium, and Premium Edition Upgrade as the three core options. The Collector’s Edition is presented separately as a physical collector bundle. - AN ORIGIN STORY BEGINS — Fight alongside Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago in the gripping origin story of Emergence Day, as the Locust Horde erupts from below.
- A DARKER, GRITTIER THREAT — Face reimagined enemies and a terrifying underground invasion that restores the fear, dread, and intensity at the heart of the Gears of War series.
- MULTIPLAYER EVOLVED — Battle in Horde Siege for large‑scale PvE action or prove your skill in refined Versus PvP with greater precision and competitive depth.
- CLASSIC COMBAT, MODERNIZED — Experience signature cover‑based gameplay enhanced with updated movement, traversal, and controls that feel like Gears while playing like something new.
- CO‑OP YOUR WAY — Play online with up to four players across Campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus, or team up locally with 2‑player split‑screen co‑op on console.
Xbox’s offer terms state that the bonus applies to purchases made before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT, at participating retailers and while supplies last. The offer is limited to one per person or account and may require a single-use code.
- Digital Xbox and Steam preorder: the bonus items are granted automatically, according to Xbox’s preorder listing.
- Physical preorder: the code may arrive by email or appear on a printed receipt, depending on the retailer and region. Confirm the delivery method and timing with the seller.
The preorder page also promoted early access to the Open Beta beginning August 6, 2026. That beta window has passed and is not a benefit a new preorder can still use.

Which option makes sense for you?
- Choose Standard if you want the game without the Premium cosmetics and seasonal packs, or prefer a physical base copy.
- Choose Premium if you value its included packs and Iron. Its early access has already started, so that timing benefit is no longer a future advantage for a buyer on October 3.
- Choose the Premium Upgrade if you already own Standard and want the Premium benefits. Confirm eligibility for your platform and storefront first.
- Consider the Collector’s Edition if you specifically want its physical collectibles and bundled Premium upgrade, and can find it available in your region. Compare the Xbox disc and Steam code versions before purchase.
The game launches generally on October 6, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC. Xbox says early access began worldwide October 1, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC. Named platforms are Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Steam. Xbox Play Anywhere applies to a single Xbox/Microsoft Store purchase across Xbox Series X|S and PC; it does not establish the same entitlement for a Steam purchase.
