Why Zverev and Djokovic could meet
The China Open’s official men’s draw preview places Zverev and Djokovic in the same quarter and describes Djokovic as a “potential quarterfinal opponent” for Zverev. The matchup depends on both players winning their intervening matches; it is a draw possibility, not a confirmed fixture.
According to that preview, No. 2 seed Zverev was set to open against Cameron Norrie, while Djokovic was scheduled to begin against Nuno Borges. The preview calls Djokovic a six-time China Open champion and says he was making his first appearance at the tournament in 11 years. Those are historical and draw-context details, not results from this edition.
