Gate is betting that crypto platforms can become all-in-one money apps, combining trading with payments, yield products, AI assistance and, in some markets, traditional-market instruments. That is a visible industry strategy—not a proven “biggest consumer trend”: Federal Reserve data show crypto investment use remains more common than crypto payments, while a survey of existing crypto holders finds substantial interest in linking crypto to regular accounts.
What does Gate mean by an all-in-one money app?
Gate describes a service mix that reaches beyond a conventional crypto exchange. Its Gate AI product page says the assistant is available on web and app and can provide natural-language market guidance and connect to actions involving trading and financial products. Gate lists spot trading, Convert, Simple Earn, Staking, Dual Investment, Leveraged ETF, token-launch products and Gate Pay merchants. It also describes AI-assisted order workflows and continuity between web and app for logged-in users.
In its August 2026 transparency report, published September 11, 2026, Gate describes a broader mix that includes stocks, ETFs, CFDs, tokenized stocks, earn and staking products, on-chain services, AI and institutional services. Gate says some services may be restricted in certain regions. These are company descriptions of its offerings, not evidence that every feature is available to every account or jurisdiction.

Do consumers want crypto integrated with ordinary finances?
There is evidence of demand among people who already hold crypto, but that should not be mistaken for a finding about all consumers. The National Cryptocurrency Association’s 2026 State of Crypto Holders report, conducted with The Harris Poll and published May 21, 2026, surveyed 10,000 U.S. crypto holders. It reports that 76% wanted their bank to let them buy, hold and manage crypto alongside regular accounts. The report also says 41% of respondents viewed crypto simultaneously as an investment, a payment method and a technology platform.
Those results point to interest in broader utility and integration within a crypto-holding population. They do not show that 76% of U.S. adults want such an app, nor that most people are ready to use crypto for everyday spending. The survey summary also describes holders sending crypto and using it to shop, but does not make those activities equivalent to broad adoption among the general public.

What do payment-use figures show?
Federal Reserve measures suggest that crypto is still used more often as an investment than as a direct payment method in the United States. In its 2026 report on the economic well-being of U.S. households in 2025, the Board of Governors reported that 9% of U.S. adults bought or held cryptocurrency as an investment, 2% used it to buy something or make a payment, and 1% used it to send money to friends or family. Respondents could select multiple answers.

A separate historical series points in the same direction. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s September 24, 2025 briefing on U.S. consumers’ cryptocurrency payments, based on SHED survey data through 2024, says the share using cryptocurrency for payments was nearly 3% in 2021 and 2022, then below 2% in 2023 and 2024. The briefing’s authors, Fumiko Hayashi and Aditi Routh, write that the share “has been very small and has declined slightly in recent years.”

These figures come from different surveys, populations and periods, so they should not be combined into a single trend line. They do, however, caution against treating a wider feature menu as proof that crypto payments are already routine.
Why are platforms still expanding into payments and other services?
Platforms may be responding to a broader product-convergence thesis: make one account useful for trading, storing assets, earning yield, paying and accessing other financial products. Binance Research’s Full-Year 2025 & Themes for 2026 report describes crypto-native wallets evolving toward neobank-like platforms offering banking, payments, cards and yield. That supports the existence of an industry direction, but it is not a ranking of consumer trends.

There are also indicators of infrastructure activity. Gate Research’s 2025 Crypto Market Review and 2026 Outlook says crypto payment-card transaction volumes reached new highs for 12 consecutive months in 2025, citing Dune data. Transaction volume is not the same measure as the proportion of consumers making payments, and it does not establish that all-in-one apps are the leading consumer trend.
Is this really crypto’s biggest consumer trend in 2026 and 2027?
The evidence supports a narrower conclusion: crypto companies are broadening their products, and at least some existing crypto holders want tighter integration with ordinary financial accounts. It does not establish that all-in-one money apps are the biggest consumer trend in either 2026 or 2027. The available sources do not provide a consistent, independent comparison of consumer trends across those years, and the Federal Reserve data show that investment use outpaces payment use.

So “biggest” is best read as a market thesis or platform bet, not a measured consumer ranking. Gate’s lineup illustrates the direction of that bet; survey and payment-use figures show why the gap between product availability and everyday behavior still matters.
What should users check before relying on a single app?
Feature breadth alone is not enough to judge whether an app suits a particular user. Before moving money or using a product, verify the details for the exact service and location.
Quick Recap
- Local availability and eligibility: Gate says some services are region-restricted. Confirm that the feature and account type are available where you live.
- What the product actually does: An exchange, wallet, bank-linked account and payment service have different functions. Do not assume that a single app label means the products work alike.
- Costs and conditions: Check applicable fees, yield terms, trading conditions and withdrawal rules in the current product documentation.
- Custody and protections: Confirm who controls the assets and what consumer protections apply to the specific service in your jurisdiction. The cited Gate materials do not settle those questions.
- Payment usefulness: Check whether merchants or counterparties you use accept the payment method; platform breadth alone does not establish everyday acceptance.
