The Forerunner 570 is the newer, more smartwatch-oriented option: Garmin lists phone calling and voice-assistant support alongside its AMOLED display, SatIQ technology and multiband GPS. The Forerunner 265 is still a capable AMOLED running and multisport watch, with published battery estimates and a broad set of training features. Choose the 570 if its added interactions matter to you; choose the 265 if its established feature set meets your needs and its verified price is more appealing.
What is the main difference between the Forerunner 570 and 265?
Both watches target runners and multisport athletes who want an AMOLED screen and advanced training tools. Garmin positions the 570 as a GPS running smartwatch and documents Bluetooth phone calling and voice-assistant support for it. The 265’s specification instead emphasizes running, training, health tracking and multisport functions; it lists smart notifications, music features and Garmin Pay, but not the 570’s calling and voice-assistant features.
The 570 is the newer product generation, but that alone does not establish a universal performance advantage. The available manufacturer material does not demonstrate that the 570 has more accurate GPS, longer real-world battery life, or a training benefit every 265 owner would notice.

Current prices, discounts, stock and retailer availability have not been verified here. Check live listings for the exact case size and model before buying, and compare the actual prices available to you rather than relying on old launch prices or undated offers. A meaningful verified discount on the 265 can make it the better value if you do not need the 570’s calling or voice-assistant support.

What are the display, size and build differences?
Forerunner 570
Garmin offers the 570 in 42 mm and 47 mm case sizes. Its product page describes an AMOLED display, a 5 ATM water rating and Garmin proprietary plug charging. Dimensions and battery estimates vary by case size, so make sure any specification you compare is for the exact variant you are considering. Garmin’s listing identifies the 47 mm watch and charging/data cable in the package.
Forerunner 265
Garmin Oman’s specification for the standard Forerunner 265 lists a 1.3-inch (32.5 mm), 416 × 416-pixel AMOLED display, a weight of 47 g, a 5 ATM water rating, 8 GB of memory and Garmin proprietary plug charging. These are regional manufacturer specifications, not a statement about current US pricing or stock. The 265S is a separate size variant; do not assume its dimensions or battery figures match the standard 265.

How long does the battery last?
Garmin’s figures below are maximum estimates, not measured results. The 265 values come from Garmin Oman’s specification for the standard 265. Garmin’s comparison listing provides 570 battery rows, but the accessible evidence does not establish the exact figures and case-size pairings well enough to quote them. Check Garmin’s current documentation for the specific 570 size before comparing runtimes.
Recommended Free Tools
| Forerunner 265 mode | Garmin’s estimate |
|---|---|
| Smartwatch mode | Up to 13 days |
| GPS-only GNSS | Up to 20 hours |
| SatIQ | Up to 16 hours |
| All-systems GNSS plus multiband | Up to 14 hours |
| GPS-only GNSS with music | Up to 7 hours |
| SatIQ with music | Up to 6.5 hours |
| All-systems GNSS plus multiband with music | Up to 6 hours |
Compare like with like: smartwatch mode is not comparable to a GPS workout, and multiband GPS or music changes the workload. Actual runtime also depends on settings and use, including display behavior, connected sensors and GPS configuration. A larger case may have different battery capacity, so match both mode and watch size when checking Garmin’s current 570 figures.

Which watch has the training and multisport features you need?
The 265 is not a basic or obsolete alternative. Garmin’s specification lists GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, multi-frequency positioning and SatIQ, as well as a wrist heart-rate sensor, barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer and thermometer. Its connectivity includes Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi.
For training and daily use, the 265 specification includes training readiness, HRV status, training load, race predictor, multisport activities and swimming profiles. It also lists sleep and health tracking, smart notifications, music storage and control, Garmin Pay, and outdoor navigation features. Health metrics can help track trends and training context; they are not medical diagnoses.

Garmin’s February 24, 2026 Q1 product update lists the Forerunner 570 and 970 for features including course planner, sports scores, Garmin Fitness Coach, sleep alignment, display colour modes, contextual voice alerts and gear tracking, among other training and accessibility capabilities. Garmin said free updates had begun rolling out and would continue over the coming weeks. Timing and availability can vary with device state, region and software version. Do not assume the 265 receives features that Garmin’s update table does not list for it.
What smartwatch features does the 570 add?
Garmin documents Bluetooth phone calling and voice-assistant support for the 570. Those features make it the clearer fit if you want more direct interaction from the watch, in addition to its running and multisport purpose. The 265 specification lists smart notifications and music functions, but does not document the same calling and voice-assistant support.

Should a Forerunner 265 owner upgrade?
For an owner whose 265 is working well, an upgrade is a preference decision, not an automatic necessity. The strongest documented reasons to move to the 570 are wanting the newer product generation and specifically valuing Garmin-listed phone calling or voice-assistant support. The evidence does not establish a universal GPS-accuracy improvement or a guaranteed real-world battery gain.
- Consider the 570 if its calling and voice-assistant features would change how you use a watch, and you have confirmed the relevant case size and current price.
- Keep or choose the 265 if its running, training and multisport tools already cover your needs, or if its verified price is substantially lower.
Will a Forerunner 265 band fit the 570?
Garmin Oman’s 265 specification identifies a 22 mm industry-standard quick-release band for the standard 265. That supports choosing a replacement band for that model; it does not establish compatibility with either 570 size. Verify the exact 570 variant’s band width and manufacturer compatibility before buying an accessory. Both models use Garmin proprietary plug charging, but the documented information does not validate a particular replacement cable or third-party charger.
