PC Guide reported on October 6, 2026, that GameStop listed a pre-owned digital PS5 Pro for $1,399.99, with a $1,329.99 price for Pro members. Those were asking prices, not confirmed sale prices, and PC Guide said the refurbished console was out of stock online when it checked. The report also said a GameStop employee memo described the increase as intentional; it does not amount to direct public confirmation from GameStop.
What was GameStop’s reported used PS5 Pro price?
According to PC Guide’s October 6, 2026 report, GameStop’s pre-owned digital PS5 Pro listing showed $1,399.99, or $1,329.99 for Pro members. A pre-owned tier with a disc drive attachment was listed at $1,499.99. These are dated listing prices, not evidence that customers completed purchases at those amounts.

PC Guide reported that the refurbished console was not in stock online when it checked. A price displayed on a product page does not establish that a buyer could place and complete an order. GameStop has an official PS5 Pro product page, but that page does not verify these particular pre-owned prices.
Was the used PS5 Pro really more expensive than a new one?
In PC Guide’s October 6 comparison, yes: it cited a new PS5 Pro price of $899.99, below the reported pre-owned listing prices. That comparison is useful only as a snapshot. Check the seller’s current listing, condition, configuration, stock, membership eligibility, and return terms before deciding that a particular offer is cheaper or better value.

What does “intentional” mean in this report?
PC Guide reported that a GameStop employee memo characterized the higher used price as intentional. The account and memo wording are attributed through PC Guide’s reporting; the evidence available here is not a directly authenticated public statement from GameStop. The word indicates that the price change was described as deliberate, but it does not explain the retailer’s rationale. No independently supported reason for this specific pricing decision is established.
Is the $1,399.99 listing in stock?
PC Guide said the pre-owned console was unavailable online when it checked on October 6, 2026. That is a dated stock observation, not a guarantee about later availability or in-store inventory. Check GameStop’s current listing or contact the store directly before traveling or relying on the advertised price.

What does the PS5 Pro offer?
Sony describes the PS5 Pro as a console with 2TB of built-in SSD storage, Wi-Fi 7 support when used with a compatible router, and features including PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), advanced ray tracing, and higher frame rates in compatible games. Sony says enhancements vary by game. The console plays PS5 games and more than 8,500 PS4 games, though Sony notes that a small number of PS4 titles are incompatible. See Sony’s PS5 Pro product information for its feature and compatibility details.

That is a developer statement presented by Sony, not independent testing, and it describes one game rather than a guaranteed result across the library. Sony’s broader claims about image clarity, ray tracing, and frame rates are manufacturer promotional claims, with results dependent on supported games and settings.
Quick Recap
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm whether the offer is new or pre-owned and whether it is digital-only or includes a disc drive attachment.

- Compare the same configuration and condition, and review the seller’s return terms before paying.
- For a new console, compare live offers rather than treating the $899.99 figure cited in the report as a guaranteed current price.
