At Fate’s End is listed for 2026, but Thunder Lotus has not announced a release day or month. If you want something to play in the meantime, start with Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition if you have not played the game that defines the comparison. For a different take on spirits and management, try Spirittea; for a compact, reflective puzzle adventure, try The Last Campfire.
What to expect from At Fate’s End
Thunder Lotus lists At Fate’s End for 2026 on PC storefronts, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and lists Xbox Game Pass availability. Its official page gives a year, not a specific date, so the window could change. Thunder Lotus’s official game page has the current platform and release information.

This is not presented as a direct Spiritfarer sequel or another cozy management sim. The announced story follows Shan, the youngest daughter of the ruling Hemlock dynasty, amid conflict within her family. Thunder Lotus describes the game as an action-adventure with duels and more action-driven play. Xbox Wire reports that the developers want mechanics and narrative choices to carry emotional weight. Xbox Wire’s announcement provides more on the premise and design.
That makes the best interim pick depend on what you want to carry over from Spiritfarer: its management loop, its supernatural characters, its reflective storytelling, or simply its thoughtful adventure tone.

Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition — the closest match
If you have not played Spiritfarer, begin here. Thunder Lotus describes it as a cozy management game about death: you build a boat, explore, care for spirit friends, and help them pass on. That blend of hands-on management and personal stories makes it the most direct fit, although At Fate’s End is more action-oriented. Thunder Lotus’s Spiritfarer page outlines the game’s premise.
The Farewell Edition includes the base game and three major content updates, according to its Steam listing. Steam records its release as August 18, 2020. It is also listed in Nintendo’s US store for Switch. Steam’s listing and Nintendo’s US store page provide edition and platform details.

Spirittea — spirits with a life-sim and management focus
Choose Spirittea if the spirit side of Spiritfarer and the appeal of looking after a place matter more to you than a similar story or exact gameplay loop. Its official site describes it as both a life sim and a management game involving spirits who need help. That makes it an adjacent recommendation, not a confirmed close substitute: the available official description establishes the broad premise, but not a one-to-one match with Spiritfarer’s boat-building or narrative structure. Visit the official Spirittea site.

The Last Campfire — a reflective puzzle journey
Pick The Last Campfire if you want a compact story adventure with puzzles rather than a management sim. Its official site describes a lost ember seeking meaning and a way home through a puzzling place. That offers a reflective adventure feel, but it does not recreate Spiritfarer’s boat-building, care routines, or management loop. The official Last Campfire site introduces its story.

| Game | Best fit if you want | How it differs from Spiritfarer |
|---|---|---|
| Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition | The closest overall experience: boat-building, management, spirits, and emotionally focused stories. | It is the comparison title itself, not a new take on its formula. |
| Spirittea | Spirits alongside life-sim and management play. | Its official description establishes those broad elements, but not the same boat-building loop or story structure. |
| The Last Campfire | A reflective story and puzzle exploration. | It is a puzzle adventure, not a management game. |
These games share selected features, not the entire combination that makes Spiritfarer distinctive. If what you want is specifically management and exploration, Spiritfarer remains the clearest match among these picks; if you want puzzles, The Last Campfire shifts the focus, while Spirittea keeps spirits and management in view.
Why Spiritfarer is the right starting point for At Fate’s End
Thunder Lotus says it is carrying lessons from Spiritfarer into a different kind of game. In the studio’s 2025 announcement, Creative Director Nicolas Guérin said, “With At Fate’s End, we’re taking everything we learned from Spiritfarer — that rich emotional core, that interplay of mechanics and narrative — and pushing it into thrilling new territory.” The same announcement attributed more than 2,000,000 copies sold worldwide to Spiritfarer as of 2025; that is a dated studio figure, not a current sales total. Thunder Lotus’s 2025 announcement includes the statement and figure.
