If you’re looking for games like Guns of Eschaton, first note that its own Steam demo warns: “This is not a fast-paced shooter where reflexes alone ensure victory.” It is presented as a deliberate, high-stakes, soulslike FPS in an apocalyptic Western, built around studying enemies, selecting ammunition, and finding openings for parries and dashes—not simply moving and firing as quickly as possible.
That makes “like” a question of which part appeals to you: demanding combat, careful aim and enemy weaknesses, progression and buildcrafting, co-op, or the occult frontier setting. The available sources establish what Guns of Eschaton is aiming for, but do not verify specific alternative games against those features. Rather than label unverified titles as matches, use the guide below to identify the kind of shooter to search for and judge a candidate by its actual mechanics.

What makes Guns of Eschaton different from a conventional fast shooter?
The official Steam page describes Guns of Eschaton as a first-person soulslike shooter set in an apocalyptic version of the American West. Its player character is fragile and outmatched; combat asks players to choose ammunition, study monster weaknesses, and use calculated parries and dashes. The description also says each gun has a distinct character and each monster has a weakness. Those details point toward deliberate encounters and tactical choices, rather than speed alone.
A Creative Bloq reviewer reported struggling with body-part aiming, enemy hit order, parry timing, and remembering to cock the gun. That is one reviewer’s hands-on account, not a measure of how difficult the game will be for everyone, but it illustrates how much attention the combat may demand.

Choose a similar shooter by the feature you want
An FPS label alone is not enough to establish a close match. When assessing another game, check its official description or reliable coverage for the specific feature you care about.
For deliberate, high-stakes combat
Look for games that make enemy observation and timing central to a fight. Check whether defensive actions such as parries or dashes create deliberate openings, and whether an encounter rewards learning an enemy’s patterns rather than relying primarily on rapid movement and firing.
For precision and ammunition choices
Look for meaningful weak points, enemy-specific vulnerabilities, or ammunition that changes how you approach a target. In Guns of Eschaton, the official description emphasizes both ammunition choice and enemy weaknesses, so a game that merely has accurate shooting would share only part of the appeal.

For progression and buildcrafting
Check whether weapons, abilities, equipment, and consumables change how you fight, and whether progression has a soulslike structure. The Steam description says the planned full game will include more than 20 weapons inspired by nineteenth-century firearms, along with custom bullets, talismans, armor, consumables, sacramental powers, and broader progression. These are announced plans for the full game, not features verified in the released demo.
For co-op or competitive play
Confirm the mode for the specific title and platform rather than assuming every shooter supports the same kind of multiplayer. Steam lists single-player, PvP, and co-op features for the Guns of Eschaton demo. The publisher has also announced solo and co-op progression plans for the full game; those plans do not establish what is currently available in another game.
For an occult Western atmosphere
Look beyond the setting label. The distinctive combination here is a nineteenth-century American frontier, apocalyptic worldbuilding, and occult powers. A Western shooter may share the landscape without sharing the supernatural tone, while a horror FPS may share the mood but not the frontier setting.

What is available to play now?
The free, standalone Guns of Eschaton demo launched on Steam on October 5, 2026. Steam describes it as an adventure intended to demonstrate the world, atmosphere, combat, enemies, weapons, and core systems. It is not the opening chapter or a slice of the full campaign. Check the official Steam listing for the demo’s current availability and feature details.
The full game is separately listed as upcoming in the sources reviewed. A June 30, 2026 announcement from publisher 4Divinity says it is planned for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, but that is an announced platform plan, not confirmation of release or current availability. The announcement also describes specialized ammunition, parries, occult powers, precise dashes, and a Codex that exposes enemy weaknesses through a Sequence Points system.
