Short answer: choose the Pixel Watch 4 if longer battery life and the safety features highlighted in Tom’s Guide’s comparison matter most. Choose the Galaxy Watch8 Classic if you want its physical rotating bezel, quick button and larger stainless-steel design. There is no universal winner: the right pick depends on the phone you use, the size you can comfortably wear and which features you value.

Which one has better battery life?
The Pixel Watch 4 has the clearer battery advantage in the cited comparison, but keep two kinds of figures separate. Google estimates up to 30 hours with always-on display for the 41 mm model and up to 40 hours for the 45 mm model. With Battery Saver, the estimates rise to up to 48 and 72 hours, respectively. These are Google’s estimates, not promises for every mix of settings and use.
Tom’s Guide reports that its testing reached 60 hours or more with the 45 mm Pixel Watch 4 and roughly 50 hours with the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Those are that publication’s observations under its test conditions; they should not be treated as a prediction for every wearer. Samsung’s listed 445 mAh figure is battery capacity, not a runtime claim. See Tom’s Guide’s comparison for its results and test context.

Which watch is more comfortable to wear?
The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is a single, relatively substantial 46 mm stainless-steel option at 63.5 g, according to Samsung. Its rotating bezel and quick button give it a more traditional watch-like control scheme, described in Samsung’s launch announcement. That physical bezel may appeal if you prefer turning a control rather than relying only on a touchscreen.

Google lists the Pixel Watch 4 at 31 g for 41 mm and 36.7 g for 45 mm. Its two sizes offer a lighter alternative and more flexibility for different wrists. If you are choosing between the Classic and Pixel, compare the Classic with the Pixel size that suits your wrist and comfort preferences; case diameter and listed weight cannot alone establish how a watch will feel on you.
What phone and accounts do you need?

Samsung describes the Classic’s software as Wear OS powered by Samsung with One UI Watch; Google lists Wear OS 6.0 for the Pixel Watch 4. How do health, fitness and safety features compare?
Tom’s Guide names the Pixel Watch 4 its overall winner and describes the Galaxy Watch8 Classic as a close second. Its comparison credits the Pixel with a broader safety feature set, including Loss of Pulse Detection and satellite SOS messaging. These are the comparison’s conclusions; feature availability can depend on region and connectivity, so verify that the specific safety tools you need are available where you live and on the model you plan to buy.

The cited product information does not support a blanket claim that one watch is better for every health or fitness use. Before deciding, compare the particular measurements, workout tools and safety functions you expect to use, rather than relying on a broad category label.
