Need a phone now? The Galaxy S26 is the practical choice: Samsung’s US store listed the 256GB model at $999.99 on October 3, 2026. But the reported Galaxy S27 price increase is an unconfirmed Korea-specific leak—not proof that waiting will cost more in the United States or anywhere else.
What the Galaxy S27 price leak actually says
Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026, that a blog on the Korean social platform Naver alleged the base Galaxy S27 could cost more in Korea, with the increase in the “higher 130,000 won range.” Tom’s Guide converted that to roughly $95 at the exchange rate it used. That is a reported estimate, not an announced Samsung price, and the conversion is not a forecast for US pricing. Tom’s Guide’s report explicitly cautions that an increase in Korea does not necessarily mean prices will rise in other regions.
Samsung has not confirmed the reported S27 increase in the cited material. The series is expected in early 2027, according to Tom’s Guide, but Samsung has not confirmed a launch date here either.

| Model and storage | Samsung US listing, accessed October 3, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Galaxy S26, 256GB | $999.99 |
| Galaxy S26, 512GB | $1,199.99 |
| Galaxy S26+, 256GB | $1,199.99 |
Samsung’s March 2026 US MSRP sheet listed the unlocked 256GB S26 at $899.99 and the 512GB model at $1,099.99; it listed the 256GB S26+ at $1,099.99. The document says prices may change without notice. Compared with that earlier sheet, the current listing is $100 higher for each S26 storage tier shown above. These are dated US list prices, not evidence of a market-wide price trend or of what a particular carrier or retailer charges. Samsung’s US MSRP document, effective March 2026, is a historical reference rather than a current quote.
Tom’s Guide’s October 1 report also said US starting prices had risen to $999 for the 256GB S26, $1,199 for the S26+, and $1,399 for the 256GB S26 Ultra, with the 1TB Ultra at $1,999. Samsung’s live listing independently supports the base S26 and S26+ price points above; its March MSRP sheet predates the reported changes. See Tom’s Guide’s October 1 S26 price report for the other reported figures.

Should you buy the S26 now or wait for the S27?
| Your situation | Practical approach | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| You need a phone before the expected S27 arrival | Consider the S26 at the price available in your market. | The S26 is on sale now; its US listing price is dated and may change. The S27 price is unconfirmed. |
| Your current phone works and you can wait | Wait for Samsung to announce the S27’s regional prices and specifications, then compare them with live S26 offers. | The Korean price claim does not establish what the S27 will cost in your country. |
| You are choosing based on storage or memory | Compare official configurations when Samsung announces them. | Current S27 configuration details are leaks, not confirmed specifications. |
The leak does not justify buying the S26 solely to avoid a predicted price increase. The strongest case for buying now is simpler: you need a phone before the next generation is expected and the S26’s current price and features suit you. If you can wait, you can make the decision using confirmed local pricing rather than extrapolating from a Korean rumor.

TechRadar attributed alleged S27 configurations to South Korean leaker Lanzuk. The report described 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage for the S27 and S27 Plus; it also described those RAM and storage tiers for the S27 Ultra, plus a 1TB model with 16GB of RAM. Some upper configurations might use LPDDR6 memory or UFS 5.1 storage, according to the same report. None of these details is a confirmed Samsung specification. Those claims do not yet show that the S27 will offer better value for your needs. Wait for official specifications and local prices if storage, memory, or a higher-tier model is central to your choice. When comparing a purchase, include the actual price after any trade-in, carrier financing, or retailer discount available to you; terms vary by market and offer.

Compare prices on equal terms
- Match the market: Compare prices in your country and currency. A Korean rumor converted to dollars is not a US quote.
- Match the configuration: Compare the same storage tier and, once confirmed, memory configuration.
- Match the price basis: Separate Samsung’s list price from a carrier installment plan, trade-in value, or retailer promotion.
- Match the timing: Check live offers when you are ready to buy; the S26 listing and discounts can change before the S27 arrives.
