The Samsung Galaxy S25 is the better fit if you want a compact phone with a dedicated 3x optical-zoom camera. The POCO X8 Pro Max is the larger-screen option, with a much higher stated battery capacity and 100 W wired charging. Those specifications point to different priorities; they do not prove which phone lasts longer in everyday use or takes better photos.
At a glance: the key differences
| Specification | Samsung Galaxy S25 | POCO X8 Pro Max |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X; 2340 × 1080; up to 120 Hz | 6.83-inch AMOLED; 2772 × 1280; up to 120 Hz |
| Dimensions and weight | 146.9 × 70.5 × 7.2 mm; 162 g | 162.9 × 77.9 × 8.2 mm; 218 g |
| Processor and memory | Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy; 12 GB RAM on the cited US 256 GB model | MediaTek Dimensity 9500s; 12 GB RAM |
| Storage listed | 256 GB on the cited US product page | 256 GB or 512 GB |
| Rear cameras | 50 MP main, 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and 12 MP ultrawide | 50 MP main and 8 MP ultrawide; no dedicated telephoto listed |
| Battery and charging | 4,000 mAh typical; Samsung lists up to 29 hours of video playback under its stated test conditions | 8,500 mAh typical; 100 W wired HyperCharge and up to 27 W wired reverse charging |
Specifications are from Samsung’s US Galaxy S25 product page and POCO’s global X8 Pro Max specifications. Samsung’s playback figure is a manufacturer test result, not a direct comparison with POCO under the same conditions. POCO advertises peak brightness of 3,500 nits over 25% of the display area; that peak figure alone does not establish overall display quality.
Which one is better for size and screen?
Choose the S25 for a smaller, lighter phone
At 162 g and 6.2 inches, the S25 is the more compact option. Its narrower, thinner body is a practical advantage if a large phone feels cumbersome or you want a device that takes up less space in a pocket.

The X8 Pro Max’s 6.83-inch screen is substantially larger, and its listed resolution is higher at 2772 × 1280. That gives you more screen area for video, reading, and other content, but the phone also weighs 56 g more than the S25 and is wider and thicker. Both displays support refresh rates up to 120 Hz.

Which phone has the more flexible camera setup?
The S25 has the more versatile published rear-camera layout: a main camera, an ultrawide, and a dedicated telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The POCO specification lists a main camera and an ultrawide, but no dedicated telephoto. That makes the S25 the clearer choice if optical zoom is important to you.
These hardware details do not establish which phone produces better-looking photos. Megapixel counts and camera layout are not substitutes for comparable tests of image quality, low-light results, or video.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers tell you
POCO specifies an 8,500 mAh typical battery and 100 W wired charging; it also lists wired reverse charging up to 27 W. Samsung lists a 4,000 mAh typical battery and up to 29 hours of video playback in its stated testing. Battery capacity is not a runtime measurement, and Samsung’s playback result cannot be treated as a head-to-head result against POCO. Actual endurance depends on usage and conditions; the available specifications do not settle which phone lasts longer in everyday use.

The phones use different high-end processor families: Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in the S25 and MediaTek Dimensity 9500s in the POCO. Both list 12 GB of RAM, while POCO’s specifications show 256 GB and 512 GB storage options. The cited Samsung US page is for a 256 GB model. Without benchmark results gathered under comparable conditions, these processor names and memory figures do not establish a performance winner.

SIM and network details are regional. Samsung’s US product page lists SIM plus eSIM or dual eSIM configurations and US bands. POCO lists dual SIM and cautions that eSIM and wireless-feature availability can vary by country or region. Check the exact local model and carrier-band compatibility before ordering either phone.
Price difference: compare the same market and storage tier
There is no reliable universal price difference in the available figures because they refer to different markets and sales contexts.

| Galaxy S25 US price | Not stated on the cited Samsung US 256 GB product page. |
The India listing figures are reported on 91mobiles’ S25 vs X8 Pro Max comparison page. The POCO launch/reference figures and availability caveat are reported in TechRadar’s 2026 POCO X8 Pro Max review. These figures should not be subtracted to claim a general price gap: the listings use different sellers, and the launch prices are not current offers. For a meaningful comparison, check the same country, storage tier, date, seller, and unlocked or carrier status, including any discount or financing conditions.
Check regional box contents before buying
Samsung’s US page says a travel adapter is not included and that box contents can vary by region. POCO lists an adapter, cable, SIM tool, case, and documentation, while also warning that box contents vary by region. Confirm what comes with the specific local model rather than assuming the POCO box includes an adapter or that the Samsung box does.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy S25 if compact size, lower weight, or a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera matters most.
- Choose the POCO X8 Pro Max if you prefer a substantially larger screen and prioritize a higher stated battery capacity and 100 W wired charging.
- Compare local offers before deciding on price. The published price figures mix India listings with POCO launch/reference pricing, while the cited Samsung US page does not provide a usable price.
The specification comparison does not establish a winner for real-world battery life, camera quality, thermal behavior, or long-term software experience. Those questions require comparable testing or details for the specific regional models you are considering.
