Samsung announced the Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G on March 25, 2026, confirming camera hardware and image signal processor (ISP) upgrades. Both have a 50MP main camera, but Samsung has not confirmed the Sony or Samsung sensor part numbers reported in a December 2025 leak. The official specifications distinguish the models most clearly by their ultra-wide cameras: 8MP on the A37 and 12MP on the A57.
Did Samsung upgrade the Galaxy A series camera?
Yes. In its March 25, 2026 announcement, Samsung said the Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G have upgraded camera hardware and an improved ISP, and listed a 50MP main sensor for both. Samsung also said both models have improved Nightography. These are manufacturer statements, not independent camera-test results. Read Samsung’s announcement.
The phrase “after 5 years” should not be treated as an established summary of the whole Galaxy A series. The available information confirms upgrades for these two models, not a model-by-model history proving that no comparable camera upgrade occurred across the range during that period.
What did the Galaxy A37 and A57 camera leak claim?
SmartPrix reported on December 23, 2025 that leaked prototype software contained camera parameters for the A37 and A57. It said both might use a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor, with Samsung ISOCELL S5KGNJ as an alternative in some regions. The report said configurations were not final, and Samsung’s later announcement did not confirm either part number. Read SmartPrix’s leak report.

SmartPrix described the reported IMX906 as having a 1/1.56-inch optical format, compared with the 1/1.95-inch IMX882 it attributed to the A36. A larger sensor could capture more light, but that is a hardware-based expectation—not evidence that either new phone takes better low-light photos. Tom’s Guide also covered the leaked details and framed potential low-light benefits as expectations, not measured results. Read Tom’s Guide’s coverage.
