The Galaxy A57 is the lighter option, has a higher-resolution ultrawide camera on paper, and comes with Samsung’s stated commitment of up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. The Galaxy A36’s documented specifications include 45W charging and IP67 protection. Which is the better buy depends on current local prices and availability: the available US price figures are not a like-for-like, same-day comparison.
Galaxy A36 vs A57: the key specifications
The specifications below come from Samsung regional pages: the A36 configuration listed in the UAE and the A57 configuration listed in the UK. Regional variants can differ, so confirm the exact model sold in your country before buying.

Both phones list a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP front camera. The A57’s listed ultrawide sensor is 12 MP, compared with 8 MP on the A36. That is a hardware difference, not proof that the A57 takes better photos: megapixel counts alone cannot establish detail, color, low-light performance or overall image quality. No direct camera test is available for this comparison.

Weight, charging and water resistance
In the cited regional configurations, the A57 weighs 179 g and the A36 weighs 195 g, a 16 g difference. Samsung’s regional specifications also identify the A36 as having 45W charging and IP67 protection; Samsung’s 2025 interim report lists its 6.7-inch FHD+ (2340 × 1080) display and Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 platform. These are A36 specifications, not a basis for concluding that the A57 lacks equivalent features. The sources used here do not establish the A57’s corresponding charging or protection values.
Samsung’s US A57 listing says the box includes the phone, a data cable and an ejection pin, and does not include a charger. That packaging information is specific to the US listing; check the contents stated for the local version.

Software support: the A57’s stated commitment
Samsung says the A57 is eligible for up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. “Up to” is the published ceiling, not a guarantee that every market receives updates on the same timetable. Samsung’s 2025 interim report records the A36 as launching with Android 15 and One UI 7.0. That launch software version does not, on its own, establish the A36’s current remaining support period. Verify the current model-specific policy before choosing either phone primarily for how long it will receive updates.

US price evidence: not a current matched comparison
The available US figures refer to different kinds of pricing and dates. Samsung announced the A57 from $549.99, with US availability beginning April 9, 2026. On October 7, 2026, Samsung’s US purchase page displayed $524.99 for the 128GB A57 after a $75 promotion from $599.99. Samsung’s March 2026 US price sheet lists the unlocked 128GB A36 at an MSRP of $399.99 and marks that SKU end-of-life (EOL).
These figures do not establish today’s street-price difference: the A57 listing showed a promotion, while the A36 figure is an MSRP for an EOL SKU, and the observations are not a same-day comparison of equivalent stock. Check current offers in your country for the same storage capacity, condition and sales channel before deciding that one is cheaper. The A36’s EOL designation applies to the cited US SKU; it does not prove that every regional A36 variant is unavailable.

Which one should you buy?
Choose the A57 if its local price works for you
- You want the lighter of the two cited configurations.
- You value the A57’s higher listed ultrawide resolution, while recognizing that sensor resolution is not a camera-quality test.
- You want Samsung’s stated A57 software-support ceiling and have confirmed the terms for your market.
Consider the A36 if its verified offer is better
- You find a current listing with the storage, condition and seller you want; the cited US 128GB SKU is marked EOL.
- The documented 45W charging and IP67 protection matter to you, and you have confirmed those details for the specific regional model.
- The price difference versus a comparable A57 is meaningful enough to outweigh the A57’s lighter cited configuration and stated support commitment.
Before paying, compare matching storage and condition, check the seller and regional model number, and verify local warranty and return terms. The sourced prices are US-specific, while the cited A36 and A57 specifications come from UAE and UK product pages respectively; they should not be treated as universal regional configurations.
