G.Skill announced a 96GB (2×48GB) DDR5-6000 kit with CL26-36-36-96 timings for AMD AM5 systems. It uses an AMD EXPO profile, but the announcement does not show that the kit delivers a specific gaming or application speedup. G.Skill named three product families for the specification; current retail availability and exact SKUs need to be verified.
What G.Skill announced
In an announcement dated 19 March 2025, G.Skill said the 96GB configuration would be offered in its Trident Z5 Royal Neo, Trident Z5 Neo RGB, and Ripjaws M5 Neo RGB families. Each kit comprises two 48GB modules and is rated for DDR5-6000 with primary timings of CL26-36-36-96. The profile is AMD EXPO, which users enable in the motherboard BIOS on supported systems. G.Skill’s announcement includes validation screenshots, not independent performance comparisons.
The company said distribution-partner rollout would begin in May 2025. That was a planned launch window, not confirmation of present-day stock, pricing, or a particular retail SKU. G.Skill also cautioned that products may not be available in every market and that specifications may change.
Will it work in a Zen 5 PC?
The kit was announced for AMD AM5, but platform intent does not guarantee that every AM5 processor and motherboard will run it at its rated speed. G.Skill’s general setup guidance says rated memory speeds can require BIOS adjustments and depend on the CPU, motherboard, and other system components. Check the exact kit against the motherboard’s memory QVL, confirm the required BIOS version, and verify the board’s memory support before buying. G.Skill recommends its RAM Configurator or the board QVL for kit-specific checks.
#1 Best Overall
- Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
- G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5 U-DIMM Memory Kit, Model: F5-5600J4040D48GX2-FX5
- Non-ECC, DDR5 U-DIMM, 288-pin, for Desktop PC & Gaming
- Includes JEDEC default profile, and AMD EXPO memory overclock profile
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
Enable the EXPO profile
- Install the matched pair of modules in the motherboard’s recommended two-DIMM slots, as specified in its manual.
- Enter BIOS/UEFI setup and enable the AMD EXPO memory profile. The exact menu name and location vary by motherboard.
- Save changes and boot into the operating system. Confirm the resulting memory speed and stability; if the system fails to boot or is unstable, reset BIOS settings and consult the board maker’s instructions before trying a different configuration.
DDR5-6000 is the kit’s rated overclocked profile, not a guarantee that every CPU-and-board combination will operate at that speed. G.Skill’s guidance for a related AM5 kit likewise makes performance dependent on compatible hardware and BIOS. Its newer Trident Z5 NeoX guidance about EXPO Ultra Low Latency applies to that newer series, not to this 2025 kit.
How it compares with G.Skill’s other announced kits
G.Skill’s January 2025 announcement provides alternatives at the same DDR5-6000 data rate. It lists CL26 options at 32GB and 64GB, and CL28 options at 48GB and 96GB. The figures below are announced specifications, not independent performance results.

| Capacity | Module configuration | Announced timings |
|---|---|---|

The 96GB CL26 specification is the March announcement; the other capacities and 96GB CL28 option come from G.Skill’s January 2025 announcement. For a real purchase, compare exact model numbers and check the motherboard QVL: an advertised family or capacity alone does not establish compatibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDoes CL26 mean a faster PC?
CL26 is the CAS latency timing in the kit’s specification; it is not a measured percentage improvement in games or applications. G.Skill published no comparative gaming or productivity result for this 96GB configuration. Lower latency may be one factor in memory performance, but it does not by itself establish how much faster a particular system will be. Capacity, workload, CPU, motherboard, BIOS, and memory configuration all matter.

In a June 2026 update, G.Skill described the separate Trident Z5 NeoX RGB series with AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency support and 32GB DDR5-6000 variants from CL36 to CL26. That is evidence of a newer product line, not a revision or performance result for the 96GB kit discussed here. G.Skill’s statement attributed to AMD executive David McAfee says: “With AMD EXPO™ Technology featuring Ultra Low Latency, we’re continuing to push the boundaries of memory performance for gamers and PC enthusiasts,” the June 2026 announcement notes that specifications could change before retail release.

What to verify before buying
- Capacity: Choose 32GB, 64GB, or 96GB according to the applications and workloads you actually run.
- Exact kit: Confirm the full SKU, two-module configuration, timings, and EXPO support on the retailer listing and manufacturer information.
- Compatibility: Check the motherboard QVL, CPU support, and relevant BIOS version for that specific kit.
- Physical fit: Check module height against the CPU cooler and case layout, particularly for the different heatsink designs in the named product families.
- Current listing: Confirm price, stock, and availability in your market; the announcement’s rollout plan does not establish any of these today.
