Executive director Katie Mayer described the museum’s approach to Giving Hearts Day: “The Museum is about giving kids opportunities for hands-on learning and allowing them to explore their creativity instead of teaching to a specific curriculum or test.” She recalled children collaborating around the blocks at an earlier pop-up; that is her recollection, not a measured outcome for this year’s event. Giving Hearts Day’s September 21, 2026 feature includes her comments.

The event listing says this may be the final Full STEAM Ahead pop-up as the museum moves toward a permanent home. Giving Hearts Day reported that construction on a planned 34,000-square-foot museum began in May 2026, with completion scheduled for April 2027 and a public opening projected for fall 2027. Those are plans and projections, not a guaranteed opening date.
