There is no confirmed X-T6 to compare with the Fujifilm X-T5. In its October 5, 2026 guide, MPB reported that Fujifilm had made no official statement about an X-T6 and that no release date or specifications were confirmed. If you need a camera now, choose based on the X-T5’s documented features and your needs; if you can wait without a deadline, wait for Fujifilm to announce the successor and publish its specifications. Don’t make the decision on leaked features.
Is the Fujifilm X-T6 officially confirmed?
Not in the latest reviewed reporting. MPB’s guide, published October 5, 2026, says Fujifilm had not officially commented on the X-T6 and that circulating specifications and timing remained rumor. It reports no confirmed release date. That is a dated status report from a retailer, not a Fujifilm announcement; check Fujifilm’s official channels for any newer announcement before buying.
Without official X-T6 specifications, a feature-by-feature comparison would be guesswork. There is no verified basis here to compare the cameras’ sensors, autofocus, video modes, screens, battery life, or price. The useful comparison is between the X-T5’s confirmed capabilities and what you need from a camera today.
What the Fujifilm X-T5 is confirmed to offer
Stabilization and viewfinder
Fujifilm lists five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) rated up to 7.0 stops and an electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results or a guarantee of a particular handheld shutter speed. See Fujifilm’s X-T5 product information.
#1 Best Overall
- 40.2 Megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR BSI Imaging Sensor
- 15 Frames per second in Mechanical Shutter
- Up to 7 stops of Internal Body Image Stabilization (IBIS)
- 160MP pixel shift multi shot
- 1/180,000 Max Shutter Speed in Electronic Shutter
Video formats and card requirements
Fujifilm’s official specifications list 6.2K recording at 6240 × 3510 pixels, up to 29.97p, as well as multiple 4K and DCI 4K modes. For movie recording, Fujifilm recommends an SD card rated UHS Speed Class 3 or higher. For recording at 360 Mbps, it specifies Video Speed Class 60 or higher. A V60 card is therefore tied to that higher-bitrate mode; it is not a universal requirement for every X-T5 owner. Check the full recording specifications against the mode you intend to use.
Which camera should you buy: X-T5 now, or wait for the X-T6?
Buy the X-T5 if you need a camera now
If the X-T5’s documented stills and video capabilities meet your needs, buying it is a reasonable decision rather than waiting for an unannounced model. Digital Camera World reported that a Fujifilm US representative said the X-T5 “has not been discontinued.” That supports considering it, but it does not guarantee that a particular retailer has stock. You can check the Fujifilm X-T5 mirrorless camera listing for current availability.
Rank #2
- 40.2 Megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR BSI Imaging Sensor
- 15 Frames per second in Mechanical Shutter
- Up to 7 stops of Internal Body Image Stabilization (IBIS)
- 160MP pixel shift multi shot
- 1/180,000 Max Shutter Speed in Electronic Shutter
For buyers considering a lens kit, Digital Camera World reported a US offer on an X-T5 with the XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR. The report described a temporary discount on October 5, 2026; that offer may have ended, so verify the current price and availability before comparing it with the body-only option.

Wait if you can defer the purchase indefinitely
If you want to compare the X-T5 with a successor before committing, waiting is the only way to make that comparison using confirmed facts. There is no established release date in the cited status report, so waiting does not mean the X-T6 will arrive by a particular time. Once Fujifilm announces a model and publishes specifications, compare the confirmed details that matter to your work: sensor, stabilization, video formats and limits, autofocus, viewfinder and screen, controls, battery, card slots, price, and availability in your region.

How to make the decision without relying on rumors
- Write down the features you actually need, such as a specific video format, frame rate, or stabilization capability.
- Check whether the X-T5’s official specifications meet those needs; for video, confirm the recording mode and its media requirements.
- If they do and you need a camera now, buy based on the verified X-T5 feature set and current local availability.
- If you can wait, revisit the comparison only after Fujifilm publishes official X-T6 specifications. Treat leaked features, rumored pricing, and predicted release timing as unconfirmed until then.
