Fujifilm has raised its shipping prices in Japan for selected cameras and other imaging products, effective October 1, 2026. The company has not announced that the change will apply in other countries, and the available reporting does not confirm a wider Fujifilm increase. Other camera makers face cost pressures, but their separate price changes and conditional comments do not establish that a synchronized industry-wide rise is coming.

What Fujifilm changed in Japan

Fujifilm Imaging Systems’ September 30, 2026 notice sets out a revision to shipping prices in Japan, effective October 1. The percentages are manufacturer shipping-price revisions, not a guarantee that every retailer’s customer price will change by the same amount.

The notice covers named products rather than the full Fujifilm catalog:

Why Fujifilm says it raised prices

Fujifilm attributes the decision to rising materials, manufacturing and logistics costs. Its notice says the company had tried to absorb those costs through improved production efficiency and expense reductions, but could no longer cover them through those efforts alone. That is the company’s explanation, not an independently measured breakdown of the costs behind each product’s revision.

Will Fujifilm prices rise in the US, UK or elsewhere?

As of October 3, 2026, the cited reporting does not establish that Fujifilm will extend the Japanese revision to other markets. Digital Camera World reported on October 1 that U.S. prices for the affected products appeared unchanged at the time. It also noted higher UK prices on some examples, but could not establish that those prices resulted from the new Japanese revision rather than earlier European pricing changes. These are dated observations by the outlet, not an announcement by Fujifilm about all U.S. or UK prices.

FUJIFILM X-E5 Mirrorless Digital Camera XF23mmF2.8 Lens Kit - Silver
  • Get the stunning looks of the iconic FUJIFILM X100VI with the added creative flexibility of interchangeable lenses. A similar size and weight to the popular fixed lens X100VI, FUJIFILM X-E5 delivers the same analog controls and a film-camera-inspired user experience but gives you the option to switch lenses to suit your creative needs. X-E5 is compatible with over 40 X Mount optics and accessories, including the all-new XF23mmF2.8 R WR, so the perfect image is always within reach.
  • FUJIFILM X-E5 echoes the timeless style of rangefinder film cameras and features a stunning machined aluminum top-plate. Aesthetically beautiful, the top-plate exudes quality and durability thanks to its premium look and feel as well as delivering a precise, angular design. X-E5 offers analog controls for quick, easy access to core functions, while additional features such as the Bluetooth connectivity button - placed on the base like a film rewind button - enhance the camera’s nostalgic feel.
  • A first for X Series cameras, FUJIFILM X-E5 features a customizable Film Simulation dial. Neatly placed under the aluminum top-plate with a circular window providing an easy view of the active mode, the dial provides fast access to Fujifilm’s unique Film Simulation modes that deliver stunning results straight out of camera. Additionally, the dial has three customizable settings, which give users the option to create and save their own recipes for instant recall in the field.
  • Sometimes the best images are made when lighting is low and, thanks to the in-body image stabilization (IBIS) on FUJIFILM X-E5, you’ll be able to tackle these situations in complete confidence. Providing up to seven stops of benefit at the center of the frame and six stops at the edges, the IBIS system features a new algorithm and upgraded gyro sensor to deliver an improved performance that helps keep crucial images free from camera shake.
  • Image quality is assured with FUJIFILM X-E5 thanks to the latest 40.2-megapixel X-Trans 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 imaging engine. This combination brings additional functionality, including a lower base ISO of 125 and deep learning AI-powered subject detection AF across a broader range of subjects. The higher resolution also unlocks a two-step digital teleconverter feature, which crops into the sensor to provide a 1.4x or 2x zoom, giving further in camera flexibility.

Retail prices can also move differently from a manufacturer’s shipping prices: local taxes, currency movements, retailer pricing and discount changes can affect what a buyer pays. A reduction in promotions, for example, can raise the checkout price without a change to the listed price. Check the current price with a local retailer rather than assuming the Japanese percentage applies where you live.

Are other camera brands raising prices?

There are distinct examples of price changes and cost concerns among other manufacturers, but they do not show that every brand will raise prices next.

Nikon: a separate Japan revision, plus conditional comments

Nikon Imaging Japan announced that revised shipping prices would take effect June 1, 2026, covering four Z-series mirrorless camera items as well as binoculars, magnifiers and a binocular accessory. Its notice cited higher materials, manufacturing and logistics costs and said those increases could not be absorbed through company efforts over the medium to long term. This was a separate Japan action, announced before Fujifilm’s October revision.

In a May 2026 financial-results Q&A, Nikon management said it “may also consider passing on price increases depending on the situation,” as reported by Digital Camera World. That is conditional guidance, not confirmation of another future Nikon camera-price increase. Sources: Nikon Imaging Japan’s revised-price notice and Nikon’s FY ended March 2026 results Q&A.

Ricoh: reported increases across several markets

Digital Camera World reported in July 2026 that Ricoh GR-series list prices had increased in several regions, including the U.S., UK, Australia and Canada. The models affected and the outcomes varied by market. The report also described Ricoh’s earlier Japan explanation as citing raw-material and manufacturing costs. Ricoh is evidence that a camera maker’s changes can span more than one country; it is not evidence that Fujifilm will take the same approach. Digital Camera World’s Ricoh GR report, July 7, 2026.

Canon: cost pressures and possible responses, not a camera-price announcement

Canon’s July 27, 2026 results presentation identifies higher memory prices, raw-material costs associated with higher oil prices, and related transport costs as pressures in its 2026 outlook. Canon said it would monitor memory prices and seek to mitigate the impact through price increases and further cost reductions. It did not announce a specific retail camera-price revision in that presentation. Canon’s Second Quarter 2026 Results presentation.

What to watch if you’re deciding when to buy

  • Look for an official notice that names your country, product and effective date; a Japan shipping-price change alone does not confirm a local increase.
  • Compare the retailer’s current price with its earlier price, and distinguish a list-price revision from the end of a discount or promotion.
  • Treat comments about possible price increases as conditional unless the manufacturer announces a specific change.

Fujifilm’s Japan notice gives the clearest answer for its affected products there. Beyond that market, the evidence cited here does not establish a future Fujifilm increase; other manufacturers’ actions and cost statements are relevant context, not a timetable for what happens next.
