Freedom Mobile’s reported $35-for-80GB offer was a localized Oshawa, Ontario promotion in June 2025, not an established nationwide plan. MobileSyrup reported that the bring-your-own-phone deal lasted 18 months, included service in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and came with 15GB of bonus roaming data outside those countries. The report said the monthly price would rise to $45 afterward. Its availability today is unconfirmed.
What the reported $35/80GB promotion included
MobileSyrup reported the following terms for the offer in June 2025:
- Monthly price: $35 for 18 months, followed by a reported price of $45 per month.
- Data: 80GB for use in Canada, the United States and Mexico, plus 15GB of bonus roaming data outside those countries.
- Eligibility and location: A bring-your-own-phone offer reported at a Freedom Mobile store in Oshawa, Ontario. Contemporary event coverage connected it to the Oshawa Peony Festival and described it as event-exclusive.
These are historical reported terms, not a current plan quote or a complete customer contract. The reports do not establish the precise plan code, every activation fee, or each customer’s eligibility. MobileSyrup’s June 9, 2025 report and iPhone in Canada’s June 8, 2025 event coverage describe the promotion.

Is the Freedom Mobile $35 plan still available?
There is no evidence here that the exact $35/80GB/18-month promotion is available on October 4, 2026. Freedom’s surfaced Back to School 2026 offer page lists different terms: $35 per month for 10GB when bringing your own phone, while its 35GB-for-$35 offer requires a phone on a 24-month term. The page also says promotions are limited-time and can change or be cancelled.

Those current advertised offers do not confirm whether an Oshawa store has another local deal. If you are considering activation, ask the participating store whether an equivalent promotion is currently available and request the written plan summary and promotion expiry or credit terms before agreeing. Freedom Mobile’s Back to School 2026 offers are the reference for the surfaced current terms.
How to assess the reported savings claim
MobileSyrup said Freedom’s promotion signage advertised “up to $281” in savings, but its report found that the stated figures did not add up to $281. The report described a $14-per-month discount for 18 months, which equals $252, and a separate waived $45 connection fee; together, those figures total $297.

That arithmetic is the publication’s calculation of the advertised components, not proof of what every customer would pay or save. The full signed contract and exact fee treatment for each activation were not available. Compare the actual written monthly charge and fees instead of treating the “up to $281” claim as verified savings.

Freedom’s general Digital Discount terms—not the archived terms for this specific local promotion—say eligibility requires an eligible plan, Auto Pay, an active valid payment method and redemption of the promo code. For postpaid customers, the terms say these steps should be completed on activation day to ensure the discount appears on the first or next bill. Freedom also states that its prices exclude taxes and government levies, and that promotions can change or be cancelled without notice. Freedom Mobile’s Digital Discount terms explain these general conditions.
