There is no single free alternative established here as a full replacement for eBillity. The best fit depends on what you need: consider Clockify for time tracking, or Zoho Invoice if invoicing is the main requirement and you can track time elsewhere. Neither should be assumed to reproduce eBillity’s workforce, payroll-reporting, or legal-billing features at no cost.

Does eBillity have a free plan?

eBillity’s official pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial with no credit card required; that is a time-limited evaluation, not evidence of a permanent free plan. Its plans serve different workflows, so first identify whether you use eBillity for client billing, employee timekeeping, projects and expenses, or legal billing. See eBillity’s current pricing.

eBillity plan Best suited to Annual-billing price shown
Time Tracker Billing Freelancers and service businesses needing time tracking and billing $8.00 per user/month
Time Tracker Workforce Employee hours, payroll, and workforce management $11.20 per user/month
Time Tracker Premium Projects, expenses, billing, and advanced reporting $16.80 per user/month
LawBillity Legal professionals $33.60 per user/month

These are the annual-billing rates displayed on eBillity’s pricing page when checked in October 2026; the page says annual billing saves 20%. Prices and plan details can change, so confirm them before subscribing. A trial lets you evaluate a paid product, but it does not meet a need for ongoing free use.

Which free eBillity alternative fits your workflow?

Clockify: start with time tracking, then check the tier

Clockify is the clearest time-tracking comparison in the available official pricing information. However, its pricing page places invoicing, recurring invoices, timesheet approval, attendance and overtime, and QuickBooks integration among Standard-tier features. Standard is listed at $5.49 per seat/month billed annually or $6.99 month to month; those prices describe a paid tier, not the free plan. Check Clockify’s current plans, especially its free-tier limits and the features included for your account size.

Clockify may suit you if basic time tracking is the priority. If you rely on client invoicing, payroll-ready reporting, approvals, attendance controls, or a specific accounting integration, verify that each required feature is available on a plan you can afford. Do not treat Clockify as a full eBillity replacement based on time tracking alone.

Zoho Invoice: consider it when invoicing is the main need

Zoho describes Zoho Invoice as free for small businesses. It may be a fit when you primarily need to create and manage invoices and are comfortable using a separate tool for time tracking. Its free invoicing offer does not establish that it replaces eBillity’s employee timekeeping, scheduling, payroll reporting, or legal-billing features. Review Zoho Invoice’s pricing and terms before deciding whether it covers your invoicing workflow.

Toggl Track and Harvest: verify current plans before counting them as free

The available official pricing-page information does not establish Toggl Track’s current free-plan limits or whether Harvest currently offers ongoing free use. Check each vendor’s live plan page rather than assuming either is a free alternative: Toggl Track pricing and Harvest pricing.

  • Time-to-invoice workflow: Confirm whether tracked time can be turned into client invoices on the plan you intend to use. Invoicing and time tracking in separate products may add manual work.
  • Employee and payroll needs: If you manage staff, check for timesheets, approvals, attendance, overtime, and payroll-ready exports. Do not infer these from a basic timer.
  • Accounting and payroll integrations: Verify the exact integration you use and whether it is available at the relevant tier.
  • Legal billing: If your work depends on legal-specific billing or related workflows, confirm support for your required formats and processes; a general time tracker or invoice creator is not evidence of that support.

How to choose without losing a critical workflow

  1. List what eBillity does for you. Separate time capture, client invoicing, employee administration, projects and expenses, reporting, integrations, and any legal-specific work.
  2. Mark each item essential or optional. A freelancer who only invoices has different replacement needs from a business preparing staff hours for payroll.
  3. Check the vendor’s official plan page. Confirm limits and tier placement for every essential feature, not just whether the product has a free option.
  4. Test a representative workflow during any trial. Track an hour, route it through approval if relevant, generate the report or invoice you need, and verify that the result works for your accounting or payroll process.
  5. Compare the ongoing cost and effort. If no free tier covers the essentials, include the cost of a paid plan or the extra work of combining separate tools in your decision.

For a simple invoicing need, Zoho Invoice is the option here explicitly described as free for small businesses. For time tracking, Clockify is worth evaluating, but its pricing information puts several workflow features in a paid tier. If your eBillity use depends on workforce administration, payroll reporting, integrations, or legal billing, verify those requirements individually rather than expecting a free substitute to provide full feature parity.
