Yes, there are free alternatives to ClockShark, but ClockShark itself does not offer a permanent free plan. Its pricing page describes a 14-day trial that includes Pro features, and it says all of its listed plans carry a three-year term. Of the tools with a published free construction tier, busybusy and Jibble are the strongest starting points. Clockify is worth testing for kiosk-style clock-ins, but the free-tier coverage of the features many crews need is not clearly documented on its pages.
What ClockShark’s free access actually covers
ClockShark’s pricing page offers a 14-day trial with Pro features. That is a time-limited evaluation, not a free plan you can keep. The page also states that the three-year term applies to all of its pricing plans, so the trial is the only no-cost period it describes. The page adds that active users can be deactivated with prorated billing, which matters if your crew shrinks during a term. The company’s claim of 9,500+ customers is vendor-published and has not been independently audited.
The plan split is straightforward:
- Standard includes time and attendance, GPS, job and task tracking, scheduling, approvals, and integrations.
- Pro adds PTO, advanced job costing, mileage tracking, and multi-department controls.
If your need is a free tool that stays free, ClockShark is not the place to start. The alternatives below are the ones to compare.

The three candidates
busybusy
busybusy’s pricing page presents a Free plan alongside a detailed construction feature matrix. The free tier includes job costing, GPS clock-in and clock-out, and equipment tracking, and it lists unlimited users. The page labels activity reports as limited on the free plan. GPS breadcrumbing, supervisor tools, scheduling, project reports, documents, and messaging appear in the paid Pro and Premium tiers.
Best fit: crews that want no-cost access to basic job costing and GPS-verified clock-ins. Watch for: the difference between a GPS stamp at clock-in and continuous breadcrumb tracking, which is paid. Confirm the free plan’s export and payroll options against your payroll provider before you move any data.

Jibble
Jibble’s construction page promotes free-forever construction time tracking for unlimited users and projects. The page lists mobile, web, and kiosk clock-ins, GPS and geofencing, breaks and overtime rules, project and activity reporting, and payroll-ready XLS and CSV exports. It names QuickBooks, Xero, and Deel as integrations, and it describes offline recording that syncs once the device reconnects.
Best fit: larger crews, multi-project tracking, and cost-sensitive teams that need attendance and location checks. Watch for: these are vendor claims, not independent field testing. The page does not separate every control by tier, so confirm which location features and integrations apply to your account, and review how the vendor handles employee location data for your region.
Clockify
Clockify’s construction time-clock page describes a construction kiosk, clock-in and clock-out, switching between jobs or cost codes, attendance reports, scheduling, and GPS-related recording. The page states that kiosk pricing starts at $0.99 per user. That figure is volatile and should be checked at signup. Clockify’s pricing page shows a free tier and paid plans, but the pages do not make clear which construction features are free.

ClockShark’s comparison page names QuickBooks Time, Connecteam, ExakTime, Clockify, Workyard, Buddy Punch, busybusy, Timeero, Jibble, and When I Work as alternatives. That list shows which products the vendor sees as competitors. It does not show which of them have a free plan. Toolradar’s June 2026 directory labels Clockify, Fieldwire, and Toggl Track as freemium. Use directory lists to find candidates, then check each vendor’s own pricing page.
How to verify a free plan before you switch
- Open the vendor’s pricing page and confirm whether the free plan is described as permanent or as a trial.
- Check the user and project caps against your current crew size and the number of active jobs.
- Clock in on a test device using GPS. Then confirm whether breadcrumb tracking or geofencing is included in your tier.
- Turn on airplane mode, clock in and out, turn the connection back on, and confirm the entries sync.
- Export a sample timesheet and import it into your payroll or accounting software before moving live data.
- Read the contract length, the billing basis for active users, and what changes when you add the next worker.
Pricing and plan limits change, so confirm each item on the live vendor page on the day you sign up.
