Visit Philadelphia describes six interactive exhibit zones across 157,000 square feet, including four areas designed for children three and younger. Examples include a supermarket role-play area, a mini Delaware River boat, Nature’s Pond and a fairytale garden. These are a natural match for families prioritizing imaginative play and exploration at a young child’s pace. See the museum FAQ and Visit Philadelphia’s overview.

Build the ticket total for everyone in your group rather than comparing just adult admission. The prices cited above are listings accessed October 4, 2026, not a guarantee of future rates.
Please Touch is in Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. Its directions page lists free on-street parking and a gated museum lot for $20, with limited spaces. The Franklin Institute lists an on-site garage at 271 North 21st Street, but the current garage rate is not stated in the reviewed visit information. Verify parking cost and availability separately before driving. See Please Touch directions and the Franklin Institute visit page.
If anyone in your group needs mobility, sensory, communication or attendant support, compare the specific services each museum describes rather than relying on a general accessibility label. Quick Recap
Make the choice for your family
- Pick the Franklin Institute if interactive science, planetarium shows and live programs are the main draw, or if you want a museum with a broad-audience presentation.
- Pick Please Touch if your children are within its stated general age range and are likely to get more from role-play, child-directed activity and play-oriented zones.
- For siblings at different ages, weigh whether older children will enjoy science exhibits while younger ones need developmentally focused play; the descriptions establish different emphases, not a universal winner.
- Let your date and budget break a tie: Franklin Institute is listed open daily, while Please Touch closes Mondays and Tuesdays and varies Sunday opening times. Include special exhibit costs, discounts and parking in your comparison.
