Forza Horizon 6 is currently playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC; the official Forza pages reviewed say the PS5 version is coming later in 2026, without giving an exact date. If you want to play now, choose between Xbox and PC. If you already own a PS5 and can wait, check the official listing for a confirmed release date and platform details before deciding. Your friends’ platforms, existing subscriptions, storefront choice, and interest in PC settings may matter as much as the console itself.
Which platforms can you play Forza Horizon 6 on now?
Playground Games announced that Forza Horizon 6 became playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026. On PC, the official launch information lists the Xbox app/Microsoft Store and Steam as storefronts. The official game page and launch announcement describe PS5 as coming later in 2026, but the official pages reviewed do not give a specific PS5 release date.
| Platform | Availability in the official information reviewed | What that means for your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Playable from May 19, 2026. | Play now on Xbox hardware; an eligible Game Pass Ultimate membership also includes the Xbox version. |
| PC via Xbox app/Microsoft Store | Playable from May 19, 2026. | Play now on a Windows PC, with configurable graphics settings. The digital Microsoft Store purchase also has Xbox Play Anywhere benefits. |
| PC via Steam | Playable from May 19, 2026. | Play now through Steam. Cross-save is announced, but a Steam purchase is not stated to include Xbox Play Anywhere entitlements. |
| PS5 | Announced for later in 2026; exact date not stated in the official pages reviewed. | Wait for a confirmed date and check the PlayStation Store for current edition, price, and feature information. |
Playground Games says the launch roster contains more than 550 cars. That is a game-wide launch figure, not a platform-specific comparison.

The official launch information lists Standard, Deluxe, and Premium full-game bundles, plus a separate Premium Upgrade. It also describes add-ons and content scheduled for later delivery. Those details are not a price comparison: the official sources cited here do not establish current retail prices, and the PS5 price and edition lineup were not stated. Check the relevant store immediately before purchase, and verify that any listing matches both your platform and desired edition.
What carries over between Xbox, PC, Steam, and PS5?
Cross-play and cross-save
Playground Games announced cross-play and cross-save among Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PS5, and Steam. This makes your friends’ platforms and your preferred place to continue a save relevant to the decision. The announcement does not set out every account-linking or transfer condition, so consult current support guidance for setup and do not assume every account or entitlement moves automatically.
Xbox Play Anywhere is specific to Xbox and Microsoft Store purchases
A digital purchase on Xbox Series X|S or Microsoft Store Windows PC supports Xbox Play Anywhere: the save profile and DLC entitlements carry between those systems without buying again, according to the official feature announcement. This applies to those Xbox/Microsoft Store paths. Steam is a separate storefront; its announced cross-save support should not be mistaken for the same Play Anywhere purchase entitlement.

The PC version offers configurable graphics options, live previews for many settings, real-time video and system memory-use figures, and a benchmark mode. Playground Games describes these features in its PC feature information. They give you more visibility and control over settings than the sources establish for consoles, but they do not show that a particular PC will run the game faster or look better than an Xbox.

If you are choosing PC hardware specifically for this game, check the current PC listing and requirements rather than inferring performance from the settings menu or benchmark feature.
Can you play on a handheld PC?
At launch, Playground Games announced that the game was Steam Deck Verified and optimized for Windows handhelds including Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X. It also says cross-save is available on each platform where the game can be played. These named devices are the supported examples in the announcement; they do not establish verification or equivalent performance for every handheld model or configuration.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which platform fits your situation?
- Choose Xbox Series X|S if you want to play now on a console, already use Xbox, or value the option of carrying a digital Xbox/Microsoft Store purchase and its save profile and DLC entitlements between Xbox and Windows PC.
- Choose PC through the Xbox app/Microsoft Store if you want PC graphics controls and prefer the Xbox/Microsoft Store purchase path that participates in Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Choose PC through Steam if Steam is your preferred storefront or you want to use Steam Deck, while keeping in mind that cross-save and Play Anywhere are different benefits.
- Wait for PS5 details if PS5 is your preferred or only platform and you can wait. The official pages reviewed say later in 2026 but do not confirm a date, price, edition lineup, or PS5-specific feature differences.
- Let your group and subscription guide you if playing with friends or avoiding a separate full-game purchase matters most: cross-play is announced across the named platforms, and qualifying Game Pass access may cover the Standard Edition on Xbox or PC.
Forza Horizon 6 does not have one universally best platform on the available evidence. The practical distinction is whether you want access now, which storefront and hardware you already use, and whether PC flexibility or waiting for PS5 matters more to you.
