Fortnite’s servers were reported back online after a major login and matchmaking disruption on December 25, 2025. If you are checking whether Fortnite is working now, Epic’s public status page currently lists the game as operational; because that page is live, check it again for the latest status.

What happened during the Christmas Day outage?

A secondary incident tracker recorded a major Epic Online Services login issue on December 25, 2025. During recovery, an update reproduced in a community post said Epic was still working to restore Fortnite and matchmaking, and that players already logged in might be disconnected. This means the first recovery update did not indicate that service was fully restored for everyone.

A later community post reproduced a status update saying Fortnite’s servers were back online and players were matchmaking successfully, while monitoring continued. These posts document recovery, but they are not a canonical historical incident page from Epic.

What is Fortnite’s server status now?

Epic’s live status page currently lists Fortnite as operational. Check Epic Games Public Status for Fortnite and related services before troubleshooting: availability can change, and a past recovery report does not establish current service health.

What should you do if Fortnite still will not connect?

  1. Open Epic’s status page and check Fortnite and related services. If an outage is listed, wait for Epic’s updates rather than changing local network settings unnecessarily.

  2. If the status page does not give a restoration estimate, Epic Support advises continuing to monitor it. The support guidance also directs players to connection troubleshooting when there is no outage listed: Epic’s connection troubleshooting guide.

What is not confirmed about the outage?

The available incident listing and reproduced community updates do not establish the technical cause or a reliable start-to-full-restoration timeline. They do not confirm whether a particular provider, traffic load, or attack was responsible. The evidence also does not support describing the incident as a five-day outage based on the tracker’s duration shorthand alone.
