Fortnite replaced the cover art for Ironmouse’s “Meow” Jam Track after fans spotted a Google Gemini watermark on the image. The cover was changed by October 5, 2026, and the same replacement appeared on Spotify and Apple Music. The label, Trap Nation, said the original art was a non-final placeholder and apologized; Epic said it updated Fortnite’s art after the artist’s version changed.

What Fortnite changed

The image was the cover for Ironmouse’s “Meow” Jam Track, which Fortnite added on September 19, 2026. It reused artwork from Club Ironmouse, her album released in January 2026. A Reddit user noticed a small white, star-shaped Google Gemini watermark in the cover’s lower-right corner. It blended into the image because the border already contained similar star decorations.

By October 5, the original cover had been removed from Fortnite and replaced with a version without the watermark. Reporting also found the updated cover on Spotify and Apple Music. Epic did not publicly announce the change.

How the issue came to light

  1. September 19: Fortnite added “Meow” as a Jam Track using the album artwork.
  2. October 2: After a fan tagged her about the image, Ironmouse said she had not known about the AI use and that her team had demanded changes from those responsible.
  3. October 3: Trap Nation said it was working with Ironmouse to replace the art across platforms. The label described the image as a non-final placeholder, said Ironmouse did not know AI had been used, and apologized.
  4. October 5: The watermark-free cover appeared in Fortnite, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Who supplied the art, and what Epic said

The available reporting points to the album cover supplied for the track—not an image generated by Epic for Fortnite—as the source of the watermark. Epic told Dexerto that the art came from the artist and was the same image used across demand-side platforms. It said Fortnite changed the art after the artist did, as other platforms had.

One artist who worked on the album said they used Procreate and Adobe Illustrator but were not involved in designing the cover. That distinction matters: their account does not identify who created the cover or establish exactly how the Gemini-marked image was produced.

In this case, the public record describes separate roles: Trap Nation addressed the cover and replacement across platforms, Ironmouse’s team demanded changes, and Epic updated Fortnite’s image after the artist’s version changed. Epic made no public announcement of its own about the replacement.

What the watermark does—and does not—establish

The visible Gemini mark is evidence that the image had a Google Gemini watermark; it is not, by itself, a complete account of who generated or edited the image, when that happened, or who approved it for release. The label’s statement characterizes the image as a placeholder, while Ironmouse said she was unaware of AI use. The reporting available as of October 7, 2026, does not identify the person who made the cover or explain the production process.

The episode also drew attention because Ironmouse is known for opposing generative AI and had reportedly canceled a sponsored stream of Neverness To Everness in June 2026 over AI concerns. That context helps explain the reaction, but it does not show that she knew about or approved the cover’s creation.

What Fortnite players should take away

  • The cover changed across services: the Fortnite image was replaced, and the same updated version was reported on Spotify and Apple Music.
  • Epic’s role was described as updating the game asset: its explanation was that the image came from the artist and Fortnite changed it when the artist did.
  • The creator and workflow remain unclear: neither the watermark nor the available statements establish who made the original image or how it was produced.
