Flames of Hope: A Celebration of Life takes place October 3–4, 2026, in Providence, Rhode Island. Saturday’s free morning expo is at the Rhode Island Convention Center; the outdoor festival is at 195 District Park. The organizer’s pages disagree on the time of the Illuminations of Life ceremony, so confirm it directly with Gloria Gemma before heading to the procession.
What is Flames of Hope in Providence?
Organized by the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, Flames of Hope is a weekend event for people affected by cancer, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Its program combines health education, celebration, remembrance and fundraising. The Foundation describes the Illuminations of Life ceremony as honoring survivors and remembering those who have died, with music and choreographed ballet as part of its story of hope, faith, strength, courage and determination. Official event page Passport to Survivorship Expo
The State Ballet of Rhode Island says it has participated in Illuminations of Life since 2009. Its event page also makes a historical promotional claim of more than 100,000 visitors annually; that is not a verified attendance estimate for 2026. State Ballet of Rhode Island event page

When is the Flames of Hope torch procession?
The Foundation’s main event page lists the Illuminations of Life ceremony and torch procession at 6:30 p.m.; its torch registration page lists 6:00 p.m. Because the official pages conflict, neither time should be treated as settled. Confirm the current start time and procession instructions with Gloria Gemma before attending. Main event page Torch registration page

Who can join the procession?
The torch registration page says participation is restricted to torchbearers and their assigned escorts. Torchbearers must meet a $650 minimum fundraising goal, and the first 150 people to reach that goal will be torchbearers. Spectators should follow the organizer’s current directions rather than joining the procession. Torch registration details
Is Flames of Hope free?
General attendance at the outdoor festival is described as free; food and drinks from food trucks cost extra. The Expo is also described as free, although the organizer says online registration has closed and tickets will be available at the Convention Center on Saturday. Taste of Hope and the Pink Party are separately ticketed evening events. The listed prices are $60 for Taste of Hope and $50 for Pink Party; check the Foundation’s event page for current availability and prices before making plans.
