The Fitbit Charge 6 can help you notice patterns in sleep, heart rate and overnight health estimates—but it cannot prove that a metric improved your well-being. The five measures below are useful for tracking changes against your own baseline. Because no personal tracking notes or outcomes are available here, this article explains what each metric can show without claiming that I personally measured a particular change or felt better as a result.

What the Charge 6 can—and cannot—tell you

Charge 6 combines activity, sleep, heart-rate, oxygen and stress-related features, and syncs with Google Health. It can collect different kinds of information: some are estimates, some are scores, and some are trends. They are most useful as prompts to observe patterns over time, not as diagnoses or universal targets.

Google says heart-rate tracking accuracy can be affected by physiology, where the device is worn, movement and activity. Wrist-based data may therefore differ from a clinical measurement or from another person’s readings. Google’s product documentation also says some features depend on region, the Google Health app or a paid subscription; check current availability for your account and location. Charge 6 requires a Google Account and internet access. Google’s Charge 6 feature overview lists the device’s supported functions.

1. Sleep score: a nightly summary, not a sleep diagnosis

Google says the nightly sleep score is based on heart rate, time asleep and restlessness. It condenses several sleep-related signals into one number, while the supporting details can help explain what contributed to that night’s result. In the redesigned app, sleep details, score and related metrics are in the Sleep tab; tab names and layouts can change with app updates. Google’s Charge 6 documentation describes the sleep score, and its redesigned-app notice outlines changes to metric locations.

Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker (Bundle) – Black/Obsidian – Heart Rate, GPS, Sleep & Stress Tracking + Fast Charger, & Cleaning Cloth (Black)
  • COMPLETE ALL-IN-ONE-BUNDLE: Includes Fitbit Charge 6 Black/Obsidian, rapid USB charger, and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth, – everything you need to start tracking in style.

Look for a pattern across nights rather than treating one score as a verdict on how rested you are. The score is a summary of the device’s tracked inputs, not a complete clinical evaluation of sleep or a guarantee that you will feel a particular way the next day.

2. Heart-rate variability: track your own pattern

Heart-rate variability (HRV) is the variation in time between successive heartbeats. Google includes HRV among the health data Charge 6 can collect and uses it alongside sleep and resting heart rate in its readiness calculation. Google’s health-data inventory lists Charge 6 data, and its readiness-score guide explains the inputs.

Mixblu Charger Cable Replacement for Fitbit Charge 6/Charge 5/Luxe Watch
  • Mixblu replacement charging cables are specially designed for Charge 6, Charge 5 and Luxe only.
  • According to customer voice and market research, we continuously optimize the magnetic attraction strength, and the upgraded version can provide a strong and stable connection after testing.
  • Passed thousands of qualified tests, it can provide a fast charging speed and stable charging status.
  • Made of ABS plastic and TPE cable, lightweight, stable and durable, giving you a good charging experience.
  • 3.3ft long charging cord provides you convenient use and the flexibility you need.

HRV varies between people, so a single “good” number is not a reliable universal goal. The more practical question is whether your readings are shifting from your own usual pattern, and whether that shift coincides with other changes you notice. Treat the reading as context, not a diagnosis or an explanation by itself.

3. Resting heart rate: context matters more than comparison

Google defines resting heart rate as your heart rate when you are well-rested, relaxed and not physically active. It is one of the inputs to readiness, alongside HRV and sleep. As with HRV, a personal trend is more informative than comparing your value with somebody else’s.

A change can be worth noticing alongside sleep, activity and how you feel, but it does not establish a cause on its own. Google cautions that heart-rate tracking accuracy is affected by physiology, device location, movement and activity. The readiness guide describes the definition and this accuracy qualification.

4. Skin-temperature trend: use it as a trend, not a thermometer

Charge 6 data includes skin-temperature variation. This is a trend in skin temperature, not a direct reading of core body temperature and not a diagnosis. Google’s redesigned-app notice says minute-by-minute skin-temperature data is no longer available in the mobile app, while daily and weekly trends remain visible. Google’s data inventory lists the metric; the app-change notice describes the current trend views.

5. Sleep SpO2 estimate: an overnight estimate, not a clinical reading

Google says Charge 6 uses sensors to estimate blood oxygen saturation while you sleep. That makes sleep SpO2 an overnight estimate, not a diagnostic result or a substitute for a medical-grade measurement. Google’s Charge 6 feature overview describes the estimate.

It belongs alongside the other sleep information as one tracked data point. Avoid treating a single value as a diagnosis; if you have a health concern, seek appropriate medical advice rather than relying on a wearable estimate.

How to make the five metrics more useful

Readiness is one way Google combines several signals into a daily score. Google says the first readiness score requires seven nights of sleep data, and recommends consistent wear for a month to build a fuller personal baseline. The score ranges from 0–100: Low is 0–29, Moderate is 30–64, and High is 65–100. These are Google’s product-documentation thresholds, not independent evidence that a particular score predicts health outcomes. Google’s readiness guide explains the calculation and baseline guidance.

  • Wear the tracker consistently enough to make comparisons meaningful; note gaps or unusual circumstances rather than reading them as a real change.
  • Compare a metric with your own pattern and consider related context, such as sleep and activity, instead of relying on an isolated reading.
  • Use scores and estimates to guide observation, not to diagnose a condition or assume that tracking itself improves well-being.

For everyday movement, Google says Charge 6 can nudge you toward 250 steps per hour, 10 minutes before the hour ends. Its SmartTrack feature automatically detects and records activities lasting at least 15 minutes. These are activity-tracking functions rather than additional well-being measurements. Google’s Charge 6 overview gives those product details.

What changed in the Google Health app

Google’s redesign notice describes a rollout beginning May 19, 2026, and says Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium on that date. It also says stress-check graphs are no longer shown in the mobile app, while the Charge 6 Scan Quick Reset remains available; daily and weekly skin-temperature trends remain accessible. Because app navigation and subscription labels are subject to change, use the current app tabs and on-device options rather than relying on older screenshots. Google’s redesign notice lists the changes.

EDA Scan is a separate stress-related feature: Google says it detects electrodermal activity, which may indicate the body’s response to stress. The scan records a signal; it does not establish how a person felt. It should not be confused with the five metrics above or treated as a substitute for a clinical assessment.
