Its listed 538 L usable capacity is divided among 341 L of refrigerator space, 98 L of freezer space and that convertible zone. The specifications are promising for households that want storage flexibility, but the public independent-review listing does not reveal enough test results to establish how well it performs in practice.
What the RF605QDVX2 offers
Fisher & Paykel identifies this Series 7 model as a freestanding quad-door refrigerator freezer. Its main point of difference is the variable-temperature compartment: rather than being permanently dedicated to fresh or frozen food, it can be set to Fridge, Chill, Soft Freeze or Freezer. The manufacturer describes it as a way to change a compartment’s temperature setting to suit storage needs; that is a feature claim, not an independent finding about food freshness.
The practical appeal is being able to rebalance storage as needs change. A household short on freezer capacity can use the zone as a freezer, while a need for extra fresh-food or intermediate-temperature storage can call for another mode. The settings do not change the appliance’s total capacity, but they do change how much of that capacity is available for each type of storage.
Variable-zone temperatures
Fisher & Paykel specifies Chill at -1.5 to 0°C and Soft Freeze at -10 to -6°C. The product information also lists Fridge and Freezer modes, but the cited quick reference guide does not provide temperature ranges for those settings. Choose a mode based on the food-storage task and follow the appliance manual’s guidance for safe storage.

Capacity: usable volume versus gross volume
Capacity figures need context. Fisher & Paykel’s Australian product information gives 538 L as usable volume, while its 2026 quick reference guide lists 605 L as total gross capacity. These are different measures, so the larger gross figure should not be treated as the space available for storing food.

Those allocations make the model most interesting to buyers who will actually use the convertible compartment. If you need a fixed balance of refrigerator and freezer space, compare the dedicated compartment volumes with your routine shopping and storage before treating the 99 L zone as extra capacity of one type.
Dimensions and installation fit
The RF605QDVX2 measures 1790 mm high, 905 mm wide and 688 mm deep. The quick reference guide gives a cabinet height of 1775 mm and door height of 1790 mm. It specifies minimum ventilation clearances of 30 mm at the rear, 20 mm at each side and 20 mm above.
Allow for the appliance and its required clearances when checking the kitchen opening; the refrigerator’s listed width alone is not the full installation allowance. CHOICE’s listing gives rounded recommended installation dimensions of 101 cm wide and 184 cm high. Treat those as third-party guidance rather than a substitute for the current manufacturer installation guide, and confirm the final cabinetry allowance before ordering.

For the Australian-market model, Fisher & Paykel lists a 4-star energy rating and annual consumption of 396 kWh. These are manufacturer declarations, not independent measurements established by the available review information. Check the energy label on the exact unit and market variant you are considering.
To estimate electricity cost from the declared consumption, multiply 396 kWh by your electricity tariff per kWh. That gives a simple estimate based on the label figure; actual household cost depends on the applicable tariff and use conditions. Fisher & Paykel also lists an estimated 241.6 kg CO₂e per year, calculated using market-specific energy-label consumption and a regional electricity carbon factor, so it is not a universal emissions figure.
Ice and water: what is documented
The model listing includes a manual ice bin and scoop. The reviewed product and independent listing information does not describe a plumbed water dispenser or an automatic ice dispenser for this model. If either feature is essential, confirm the exact appliance specification with the retailer before purchase rather than assuming the quad-door layout includes it.
