Its feature set is extensive, but the practical buying questions are whether its dimensions suit your worktop, whether your home can meet the market-specific electrical requirements, and whether the discontinued Australian model is still supported where you live. Public information confirms its specifications, but does not provide a public independent performance score.
What the CI905DTB2 offers
Fisher & Paykel describes the CI905DTB2 as a five-zone induction cooktop with Touch and Slide controls. The centre zone is a dual zone intended to accommodate different pan sizes, while the four outer zones have separate ratings.

CHOICE’s Australian listing gives the cooktop a 9.8kW maximum output and lists usable pan-diameter ranges of 12–14.5cm for two elements, 14.5–18cm for two elements, and 12.5–25cm (small) or 18–26cm (large) for the dual zone. Those figures are specific to its Australian listing; check the manual for your market and installation before relying on them.

Controls and features
The manufacturer lists nine heat settings, Touch and Slide controls, GentleHeat and PowerBoost. The UK product page also lists automatic cut-off timers for each zone, a minute timer, keylock, pan detection, safety timeout, spill auto-off and hot-surface indicators. Fisher & Paykel says, “PowerBoost activates a very high heat, bringing liquid to boil in less than a minute.” This is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified result.
The quick reference guide publishes 86% heating efficiency. This is a manufacturer figure for the product, not an independently measured efficiency result or evidence of a particular household energy saving.

Do not confuse the cooktop’s overall dimensions with the size of the worktop opening. Fisher & Paykel lists overall dimensions of 900mm wide × 530mm deep × 49mm high. CHOICE lists an Australian installation dimension of 870mm × 490mm.
These figures describe different things. Before buying, compare the manufacturer’s installation guide for your market with the actual cabinet and worktop, including clearances and any other installation conditions. The CHOICE dimensions are Australian listing details and should not be assumed to apply to a different market.

Does the CI905DTB2 need a 48A supply?
The UK product page specifies 220–240V and 48A. Electrical requirements vary by market and installation, so do not assume the UK specification applies to your home. Have an appropriately qualified local installer check the required circuit and whether your existing supply is suitable before purchase.

CHOICE identifies Fiona Mair as a kitchen-lab appliance tester and lists a test year of “2023 or earlier.” Its public page shows some specifications, but the expert rating and detailed results for cooking performance, ease of use, low-heat operation, high-heat operation and boil time are members-only. Is the Fisher & Paykel CI905DTB2 discontinued?
CHOICE labels the model discontinued in Australia. Separately, Fisher & Paykel’s UK product page showed it out of stock. Who should consider this cooktop?
The CI905DTB2 may suit a kitchen that can accommodate a 90cm cooktop and a cook who wants five zones, including a large central dual zone, plus timers and safety features. It is a less straightforward choice if you need a simple drop-in replacement: fit and electrical supply need to be verified, and local stock and support are uncertain in the markets noted above.
When comparing alternatives, check the number and arrangement of zones, overall dimensions versus required cutout, local electrical requirements, availability of public independent test results, and local stock and service support. Do not treat related model numbers such as CI905DTB4 or CI905DTTB1 as interchangeable; Fisher & Paykel lists them as distinct variants with their own specifications.
