The Fisher & Paykel CI604DTB3 is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a bridge function for larger cookware, Touch&Slide controls, and PowerBoost. Its published specifications describe a capable feature set, but a public independent performance verdict is not available: CHOICE labels the model discontinued and restricts its test scores and findings to members. This is therefore a specification-led review, not a hands-on performance review.
What the CI604DTB3 offers
The CI604DTB3 belongs to Fisher & Paykel’s Series 9 Contemporary range and has a black-glass surface with four induction zones. The manufacturer’s 2019 specification sheet and 2020 quick reference guide list each zone at 2,100 W, with PowerBoost ratings up to 3,700 W. These are published product ratings, not independent measurements of cooking speed.

Yes. SmartZone links two zones and controls them together, allowing the cooktop to accommodate larger pans or griddles. That can be useful when a single round cooking area is too small for the cookware. The feature is documented by Fisher & Paykel; published product material does not establish how evenly a particular pan will heat in practice.
#1 Best Overall
- HIGH EFFICIENCY - ChangBERT Induction cooktop offers 9 preset power levels (200-1800W) and 18 preset temperature settings (120-460℉, 20F per level). - CONSISTENTLY STABLE HIGH-POWER OUTPUT - Built for constant use, it features continuous-duty circuitry for non-stop cooking. The unique power control technology ensures stable high-power output, reduces the temperature of internal electronics, and facilitates low-noise heat dissipation, providing reliable cooking performance. This dependable performance sets it apart from others.
- LARGE COOKING AREA - Features an expanded magnetic coil design that optimizes the winding structure to enhance the transfer of electromagnetic energy directly to the cookware, significantly improving heating efficiency and ensuring more even heat distribution across the bottom of the cookware.
- NSF CERTIFIED & COMMERCIAL GRADE - UL commercial standard 197, completely ETL & NSF approved. It meets industry durability standards, passing a drop test with an impact of 1.5 ft lbs. - EASY TO CONTROL & CLEAN - The control buttons with solid tactile response make operation intuitive and precise. With simple and clear display, the Key-Press-Control Panel provides clear visibility and easy control, even with gloves or wet hands. Controls, heat settings and safety
Temperature control and cooking modes
The manufacturer lists Touch&Slide controls, nine heat settings, two GentleHeat settings, automatic heat reduction, and individual zone timers. PowerBoost supplies a higher rated output for faster heating when needed. These are feature claims from product documents rather than independently verified results.
Safety functions
Documented protections include pan detection, keylock, safety timeout, spill auto-off and hot-surface indicators. Induction heats cookware rather than using a conventional exposed element, but the ceramic glass can still be hot from contact with a heated pan or residual heat. Treat the surface as hot until the indicator shows otherwise.

- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Does the CI604DTB3 fit your kitchen?
Fisher & Paykel lists the appliance envelope as 600 mm wide, 530 mm deep and 49 mm high. CHOICE lists an installation cutout of 560 × 490 mm. Those figures describe different things: the appliance’s outside dimensions and the counter opening. Do not use the overall dimensions as a cutout template.
Before purchase or installation, check the exact installation guide for clearances, cabinet conditions and any requirements for adjacent appliances. Fisher & Paykel’s model reference guide includes installation documentation, including guidance for installations with multiple adjacent cooktops. A qualified installer should confirm the actual countertop opening and electrical connection.

What independent reviews establish
CHOICE’s public page identifies the CI604DTB3 as a discontinued model and lists four zones, a 7 kW maximum output, installation dimensions and a price of $2,199. That price is a page listing, not a current offer. The page says its test year was “2023 or earlier”; it does not provide an exact test date. Its expert rating, cooking and ease-of-use scores, boiling time, pros and cons, reliability and satisfaction fields are member-only, so they cannot support a public performance verdict.
Appliances Online’s listing showed five customer reviews with a 4.8 average when accessed on 2026-10-07. This is a small retailer-hosted sample, not independent comparative testing, and should not be treated as representative of all owners.

The 2016 Fisher & Paykel user guide also lists whole-cooktop energy consumption of 191 Wh/kg for the CI604DTB model family under the European electric-cooking measurement standards cited in that guide. The table uses the CI604DTB family designation rather than the full CI604DTB3 suffix. This figure is a standardized measurement, not annual household energy consumption or a bill estimate.

Availability and installation considerations
Because CHOICE marks the model discontinued, availability may depend on market and remaining stock. If considering a listing, verify whether the appliance is new or used, what warranty applies, and whether compatible service and parts are available in your region. Do not treat CHOICE’s listed price as a current quote.
For an installation joining two cooktops, Fisher & Paykel lists joining strip part 534731. Confirm that the strip is suitable for the exact configuration and currently available before ordering. Appliances Online describes the cooktop as requiring hardwiring by a qualified electrician; follow local electrical rules and the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Care and troubleshooting
The user guide advises removing hot sugary spills promptly with a suitable ceramic-glass scraper, while warning that cooking-zone surfaces may be hot. Follow the manual’s care instructions and do not assume that any particular scraper is an approved branded accessory. For persistent technical faults, the guide directs users to authorised service.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- Potential fit: A kitchen needing four induction zones and the option to join two zones for larger cookware, provided the counter and electrical installation suit the published requirements.
- Check carefully: Anyone weighing performance against competing cooktops should seek accessible, comparable test results; the public CHOICE page does not reveal the CI604DTB3’s scores.
- Availability caveat: Buyers should confirm local stock, condition, warranty coverage and service support because CHOICE identifies the model as discontinued.
