Sagardighi MLA Bayron Biswas suffered burn injuries when a fire broke out at his residence in Dhuliyan, Murshidabad district, on Saturday morning, 3 October 2026. Reports agreed that he received initial treatment at a local nursing home but differed on whether his condition was stable or critical and on the status of a transfer to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital.
What happened at Bayron Biswas’s residence
Hindustan Times reported that the fire broke out at about 11 a.m., citing preliminary police findings. An officer from Samserganj police station, whose name was not reported, told the newspaper: “A fire broke out in Biswas’ residence in Dhuliyan on Saturday morning. He sustained burn injuries and had to be rushed to a nursing home in Dhuliyan.”
According to Hindustan Times, workers at a beedi factory on the ground floor of the family’s residence rescued Biswas from an upstairs room. The report said no other family members were injured. The roughly 11 a.m. timing is a preliminary estimate reported by the newspaper, not an independently confirmed timestamp. Hindustan Times

How reports identified Biswas
Hindustan Times identified Biswas as the Sagardighi MLA and reported that he joined the Ritabrata Banerjee-led Democratic Trinamool Congress after a party split. Other reports use different shorthand for his political alignment; the incident is consistently about Sagardighi MLA Bayron Biswas and the fire at his Dhuliyan residence.
