A witness told Reuters on October 3, 2026, that fire and a large plume of smoke were seen near an Aramco facility in Riyadh. The report did not identify the precise facility or establish the cause. At publication, Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the fire, Aramco had not immediately responded to Reuters, and no one had immediately claimed responsibility.

What is not confirmed
The Reuters account does not establish the exact facility, the fire’s origin or cause, whether anyone was injured or killed, whether property was damaged, whether operations were disrupted, what firefighting response occurred, or how the incident ended. It also does not establish responsibility. Describing the sighting as a confirmed attack, refinery fire, casualty event, or operational disruption would go beyond what the report says.
Do not conflate this with earlier incidents
A September 19, 2026, Associated Press report covered a separate attempted missile attack on Riyadh. Saudi Arabia confirmed an interception in that earlier episode, with no casualties or damage reported. That account does not establish any connection to the October 3 sighting. Read the AP report on the separate September incident.

Aramco also described a different historical fire in a statement dated October 19, 2016: emergency teams controlled a fire close to a tank at a crude-oil processing facility in Alwsea’ near Riyadh. The company said several people were injured and operations were not affected. Those details concern the 2016 event only, not the October 3, 2026, report. Read Aramco’s 2016 statement.
