PonyMux 0.9.0 is designed to help you locate and return to a Terminal session when several AI agents are running. Its ⌘K search looks across each Terminal’s latest session, wake summaries describe what a sleeping agent was doing, and handoff starts a new session in another CLI with selected context. These are navigation and continuity features—not evidence of measured productivity gains. The details below are reported by PonyMux in its September 13, 2026 article, listed as updated September 15, 2026; they have not been independently tested here.
What does PonyMux search actually find?
Press ⌘K to open the sidebar search. PonyMux searches a Terminal’s name and the prompt, recap, and last reply in that Terminal’s latest session. All words in a query must match somewhere across those fields; they do not have to appear together in one field. Results include context snippets, the provider, the Terminal’s list path, and elapsed time since activity.
Search is intentionally limited to the latest session per Terminal, which helps avoid matches from stale work but means it is not a full conversation-history search. Results are ordered by where the match occurs—Terminal title first, then prompt, then recap—with a recency boost.

If you need to inspect older conversation history, use the Sessions panel rather than relying on ⌘K. PonyMux’s article does not specify further details about how the scopes divide results.

What was a sleeping Terminal doing?
Before the 0.9.0 change described by PonyMux, a sleeping Terminal showed a captured screen but no summary, leaving you to decide whether to resume or start fresh without knowing the prior task. The updated wake summary identifies the agent, its previous task, and the time of its last activity.
A summary is not a guarantee that the conversation can be resumed. If the transcript has been deleted, compressed, or moved and is no longer available, PonyMux offers Shell Only instead of presenting a transcript-based resume. The article also says that agents still running when PonyMux quits appear in the Agents sidebar after the app restarts.

Can you continue a task in a different agent?
PonyMux describes handoff between providers such as Claude Code and Codex. Handoff creates a new session in the target CLI and supplies selected context in a readable Markdown file. The source session is not modified and remains resumable with its original provider.

- Because the target starts a new session, treat this as a context handoff, not a migration of the original conversation.

What the features do—and do not—establish
The described changes address a practical navigation problem: identifying which Terminal contains relevant current work and understanding what a sleeping agent was doing before choosing how to proceed. PonyMux’s article reports no measured search accuracy, time saved, user count, throughput, or other quantitative productivity result. Its stated aim is captured in this line: “The point isn’t automation. It’s not having to wake something up just to find out what it was.” The sentence appears in the PonyMux article without a named speaker.
