Square Enix lists a minimum target of 1080p at 30 FPS on Low and a recommended target of 1080p at 60 FPS on Medium for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC. Both configurations require 16 GB of RAM, 155 GB of available storage, and an SSD. The game also supports DLSS, variable refresh rate (VRR), and up to 120 FPS; AMD FSR upscaling was added in the June 3, 2026 PC update.

These are Square Enix’s published targets, not independent benchmark guarantees. Meeting a listed tier does not guarantee the same result in every scene or system configuration. See Square Enix’s PC requirements for the vendor’s current specifications.

Square Enix also requires Shader Model 6.6 support and an operating system that supports DirectX 12 Ultimate. For 4K, it recommends a graphics card with 12 GB VRAM or more. That 4K note is separate from the minimum and recommended 1080p targets; the published list does not establish equivalent performance for unlisted graphics cards.
Which performance settings and features are available?
Presets and background detail
The PC version has Low, Medium, and High graphics presets. Square Enix does not identify one preset as universally best. The options also let you adjust background model Level of Detail and background texture MIP maps, which control aspects of background detail. These are tuning choices rather than published, tested recommendations for particular hardware.

Upscaling, refresh rate, and frame rate
Square Enix’s PC feature announcement says the game supports up to 120 FPS, but that is a supported ceiling, not a promise that every PC can sustain it. NVIDIA DLSS can upscale image quality and enhance frame rates, and VRR is supported. On June 3, 2026, Square Enix added AMD FSR upscaling to the PC version; its update notice listed version 1.005 for Steam and Epic. See the PC feature announcement and June 2026 update notice.
Controls
Keyboard and mouse are supported, and controls can be customized separately for exploration, combat, or mini-games. You can also connect a DualSense controller to use the PS5 version’s controls.

Common documented fixes and checks
- Install the latest game update. Square Enix repeatedly advises players to update before troubleshooting. Its June 3, 2026 notice listed PC version 1.005 for Steam and Epic. Check the version through your storefront and install any available update before evaluating an older patch fix.
- If the game crashes on an AMD Radeon PC, update first. Square Enix’s March 6, 2025 Version 1.003 notice says it fixed an issue that could sometimes cause crashes during play on PCs with certain AMD Radeon products, alongside broader stability fixes. It does not claim to fix every crash or every AMD graphics card. Read the Version 1.003 notice.
- If a preset changes anti-aliasing unexpectedly on AMD Radeon or Intel Arc, check the setting. Square Enix’s Windows Version 1.1 notice says changing the graphics preset now correctly sets Anti-Aliasing to the default FSR option on those cards. Make sure the game is updated, then inspect Anti-Aliasing if the selection does not match what you expect. Read the Windows update notice.
- Treat older patch improvements as historical, not a guaranteed fix for a current symptom. Version 1.004 added DLSS Frame Generation and, for RTX 50 series, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and reported overall stability improvements. A separate update-history notice for Version 1.020 lists frame-rate and stability improvements, an option for sharp or soft output in Performance Mode, and graphics quality improvements. These notes do not establish that a particular current performance problem is resolved. See the Version 1.004 notice and update history.
Square Enix’s cited update notices document specific fixes; they do not verify community workarounds such as deleting shader caches, installing mods, changing graphics-driver control-panel settings, or reinstalling the game as universal solutions.
