If you’re looking for the “hot springs” quest in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the likely match is The Saga of the Seaside Inn in Costa del Sol. It is a Johnny renovation quest about restoring hot water with a republic-era Boiler Valve—not a separate bathing activity established by the guides. Start it in Chapter 7, gather the refurbishment materials and craft the valve, then return in Chapter 9 for the desert section and Tonberry King encounter.
What is the hot springs quest in FF7 Rebirth?
The relevant quest is The Saga of the Seaside Inn. Johnny asks Cloud and the party to help renovate his Costa del Sol inn; the Johnnys need a Boiler Valve so the resort can have hot water. Square Enix describes Costa del Sol as a resort town on its official Rebirth world page. The walkthroughs reviewed do not identify a separate quest called “Hot Springs” or a standalone hot-springs bathing activity.
When can I start and finish the quest?
Start in Chapter 7
At the start of Chapter 7, accept the request from Johnny at the inn or from Costa del Sol’s community noticeboard. The first part takes place around Costa del Sol and the Corel ziplines.
Return in Chapter 9
Chapter 7 is only the opening portion. The quest guide says it cannot be completed until Chapter 9 opens the Corel Desert section. You can complete the earlier collection and Boiler Valve objectives before then, but you must return to the desert Johnny for the later stage.

How many refurbishment bundles do I need?
PowerPyx’s 2024 walkthrough and the corroborating Push Square and GameFAQs guides say four bundles are enough for basic progression, while collecting all eight is the target for the best reward. Find them around the Corel ziplines and deliver them to the Johnnys at Costa Falls. The guides do not fully specify how the reward differs at each bundle count, so treat eight as the recommended best-reward condition rather than assuming a particular extra item.
How do I get and craft the Boiler Valve?
- Analyze two Corel Lifesprings. This reveals Excavation Intel 1: Valve Factory Ruins.
- Go to the Valve Factory Ruins excavation site. Use a chocobo to sniff out and dig up the Boiler Valve transmuter chip.
- Craft the valve. The recipe is 2 Iron Ore, 2 Zinc Ore, and 2 Amethyst, as listed in PowerPyx’s 2024 walkthrough and Push Square’s 2025 guide.
- Deliver it to the Johnnys. Return to Costa Falls and hand over the Boiler Valve to progress the renovation.
How do I unlock and beat the Tonberry King?
After Chapter 9 opens the desert section, complete all six Corel Lifesprings to reveal the Classified Intel encounter with the Tonberry King. Guides recommend equipping Steal materia if you want to secure the pristine crown.

- Use Steal on the dropped crown before the Tonberry King picks it back up to obtain the pristine version.
- Return to the desert Johnny and deliver the crown.
Does the crown have to be pristine?
No. The GameFAQs walkthrough explicitly says Johnny accepts either a pristine or marred crown. Stealing it after it drops is the route to the pristine version, but the guide does not make that version a requirement for quest completion.

PowerPyx’s 2024 walkthrough lists access to Johnny’s Treasure Trove, a Yuffie relationship increase, Party EXP, character EXP that scales with level, and Queen’s Blood Card 134: J-Squad. The guide identifies collecting all eight refurbishment bundles as the best-reward condition, but does not fully break down reward differences by bundle total.

Is The Saga of the Seaside Inn missable?
PowerPyx’s 2024 general side-quest roundup says Rebirth side quests are not missable and can be revisited through Chapter Select after the story. This is general game-level guidance, rather than a quest-specific guarantee.
