Fido’s Lunar New Year promotion was a temporary Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) offer in January 2025: eligible Talk and Text plans received an extra 10GB of data for 24 months. MobileSyrup reported that the deal was scheduled to end January 27, 2025, and that Fido later removed the bonus as it revised its plan data allowances.
Which Fido plans got the 10GB bonus?
At launch, MobileSyrup reported on January 22, 2025 that the bonus applied to two BYOP Talk and Text plans. The listed monthly prices reflected an automatic-payment discount and a separate promotion; they were not simply the plans’ undiscounted regular prices.
| Launch offer | Base data | Temporary bonus | Reported monthly price |
|---|---|---|---|
| BYOP Talk and Text | 50GB | 10GB for 24 months | $40/month |
| BYOP Talk and Text | 75GB | 10GB for 24 months | $50/month |
These are the launch terms reported by MobileSyrup on January 22, 2025. The 10GB was a temporary service-plan data bonus, not a phone giveaway or device discount.

MobileSyrup described the advertised prices as including a $10 automatic-payment discount and a separate $5 promotion relative to the stated regular prices. Those discounts should be understood as distinct parts of the reported offer, rather than as a permanent plan price.
How did the offer change before it ended?
On January 27, 2025, MobileSyrup reported that Fido’s site listed that day as the last day for the Lunar New Year deals. The same-day report described the $40 offer as $40 for 60GB, combining 50GB of base data with the 10GB bonus. It also described a second offer with 88GB and noted that its displayed terms had changed during the promotion. These were snapshots during a changing, short-lived offer, not a single set of terms that remained fixed throughout.
