Fetch is accident-and-illness insurance for dogs and cats, with an optional preventive-care endorsement called Fetch Wellness. Whether it is a good fit depends on your pet’s quote and the state- or province-specific policy: the policy, not the product-page summary, determines what is covered.
What Fetch Pet Insurance covers
Fetch describes its core policy as covering eligible accidents and illnesses, with access to veterinarians in the United States and Canada. Preventive care is not part of the core policy. Fetch Wellness is an optional endorsement to the injury-and-illness policy, not a standalone subscription.
Fetch lists preventive-care items such as exams, vaccines, dental cleanings, spay or neuter procedures, and flea and tick prevention under Wellness. The endorsement is subject to its own policy terms and limits. Check the applicable policy for the specific services, amounts, and exclusions; a product-page list does not establish that every expense will be reimbursed. Fetch coverage details

Fetch says pre-existing conditions are generally excluded. It defines these as injuries, illnesses, or conditions with signs or symptoms before enrollment or during the waiting period. Its materials refer to an exception for curable pre-existing conditions, but whether a condition qualifies depends on the policy language and circumstances. Ask Fetch how a specific diagnosis would be treated before relying on coverage.

Other exclusions, limitations, and activation terms can vary by state or province. Fetch says sample policies are descriptive and may change; if product information conflicts with the policy, the policy prevails. Review the policy for your location at Fetch’s sample policy and terms page.
Waiting periods, including the cruciate exclusion
Fetch’s reimbursement page states that accident coverage has no waiting period, illness coverage has a 15-day waiting period, and optional Wellness has no waiting period. The applicable policy may specify how those periods apply, so confirm the terms for your state or province. Fetch reimbursement guidance
Rank #2
Fetch’s U.S. help page separately describes a six-month exclusion for cruciate ligament conditions. It says the exclusion may be waived if a veterinarian examines the pet within the first 180 days of the policy, the medical record specifically confirms that both knees are healthy, and Fetch receives the documentation. These are the company’s stated conditions; check your policy and get confirmation from Fetch. Fetch also says it does not send a notification when a waiting period ends. Fetch’s terms describe the configuration used for its average-premium data: a $10,000 annual limit, a $300 deductible, and 80% reimbursement. The stated data period is July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025; that configuration is a comparison basis, not a promise that every policy uses those settings. Fetch says customers can adjust the deductible, annual payout limit, and reimbursement rate to customize a quote. Fetch’s terms and sample policies
To judge affordability, get a quote for your pet and compare it with alternatives using the same annual limit, deductible, reimbursement percentage, and location. Also compare waiting periods, orthopedic terms, pre-existing-condition wording, preventive-care limits, the claim deadline, and whether you must pay the vet before seeking reimbursement.

How Fetch claims and reimbursement work
- Pay the veterinarian. Fetch says members pay the bill in full at the visit; the process is reimbursement rather than direct payment to the vet.
- Submit the claim in the app. Upload a photo of the paid invoice and supporting medical records, including SOAP notes. Fetch says it can obtain records if you provide the veterinarian’s details.
- Wait for review and reimbursement. Fetch says claims are typically processed in less than 10 days after upload. That is the company’s typical timeline, not a guarantee or independent measure. If the claim is approved and the deductible is met, reimbursement is sent to a bank account.
Fetch says claims must be filed within 90 days of the invoice date; claims submitted after that deadline are described as ineligible. Check your policy for the controlling deadline and documentation requirements. Fetch coverage and claim details Fetch reimbursement steps
Who may find Fetch a fit
Fetch may suit a pet owner looking for accident-and-illness coverage who is comfortable paying veterinary bills upfront and submitting claims for reimbursement. The optional Wellness endorsement may be relevant if you want preventive-care expenses included, but its terms and limits should be weighed against the added cost. A decision should rest on your pet’s actual quote and the policy applicable where you live—not the average price or a general coverage summary.
