Fatdog64 814, released on 4 July 2023, was the final release in Fatdog64’s 800 series. It collected modest fixes and updates accumulated after version 813, rather than introducing a major redesign. Fatdog64 904 is now the release identified as current on the project’s official site, so 814 is a historical version.

What Fatdog64 814 means for the 800 series

The project’s release notes call 814 the final 800-series release: “This is the final release of Fatdog64 800 series. No further release is planned.” The project history explains why it appeared after 813 had been marked as the series’ endpoint: developers continued using 813 internally, accumulated smaller changes, and chose to publish them while work on the 900 series was under way. The history describes 814 as “absolutely, and finally, the last release of the 800 series.”

The project reported an ISO size of approximately 503MB for 814 in its 2023 history. This is a historical reported figure, not a current measurement of a download. Fatdog64 project history

What changed in Fatdog64 814?

The changes from 813 were mainly component updates, bug fixes, and small usability or compatibility improvements. The release notes do not present 814 as a new major-series redesign. Fatdog64 814 release notes

Fatdog64 814 versus the current release

The official latest-release page checked for this article identifies Fatdog64 904, released on 2 July 2026, as the fifth release in the 900 series. That makes 814 relevant to users maintaining an older installation or examining the history of Fatdog64, but it is not the version the project currently points new users toward. The project’s current upgrade notes say the 900 series has a new base and that older 800-series packages are generally unsupported. Because the base changes, moving to 900 is not simply a matter of assuming that every 800-series package or saved configuration will carry over unchanged. Fatdog64 upgrade notes

How to move from Fatdog64 800 to 900

The project’s current instructions are general guidance for Fatdog releases, not a dedicated 814-to-813 migration procedure. They recommend replacing vmlinuz and initrd for a recommended installation and creating a new savefile or savefolder for each release. Reusing an existing savefile or savefolder is unsupported and may lead to hard-to-diagnose problems; take particular care when crossing from the 800-series base to the 900-series base.
